Big beards are used to double chins and bad complexions. Why would a good looking dude want to cover up his face with a bunch of course hair?

If 5 minutes twice a week is too much to highlight your good looks then you're really lazy or you're trying to hide something.

You're in the minority. I'll allow it.

To be fair, some people have to shave way more than that. My brother gets a 5 o'clock shadow at 1pm. There really is no in between for him.

On the other hand, I can get by shaving twice a week

I can actually grow a pretty amazing beard and have. Baws on here can vouch.... But I stick to the adage and this three has proved me right, most people with a beard are trying to hide and unfortunate face and/or feature. It's science.

Explain people who are clean shaven in the summer and have a beard in the winter.

I do the #4 here. Shave the neck up to the jaw, #4 the rest.

Obviously everyone doesn't fall in that category, but more times than not people that are wearing beards are covering an unfortunate feature. Females find ways to cover unfortunate features as well. It's human nature.

Yep, my round baby face. I admit it freely. Just started doing it at age 30. Wife loves it. I'm good with it and I look better.

I just look so fricking phenomenal with or without a beard that I wear one half the year and clean shaven the other half.

wtf is beard dandruff?

I've had a beard for 15 years and never had to do a damn thing to it. I wash it with the same soap as my face.

You're trying too hard.

OP - Check out some beard oil, I use Louisiana Beard's brand oil, usually either the black pepper or tree beard variety. Helps keep the beard great scented and shiny. As for shampoo, I just use the sauve daily wash. Quick wash and it's good to go - hit it with the oil after.

First a foremost, I don't think beards are douchey........that is until someone asks "question for my beard friends", then it's super douchey.

I keep a beard because I feel naked without one now. I shave every once in a while, but my face just doesn't feel right. I've had a beard now for like 8 years.

I do have a scar from a car accident that I remember is there every time I shave, but it honestly doesn't bother me and I'm not trying hard to cover it up. I wouldn't say I'm trying to hide anything. Not like I'm some looker with or without it.
