They'll drug you up pretty good in rehab to help you get through it. Anti anxiety drugs usually.
I’m sure. It was just never an option for me. I believe my problems are my problems and mine alone to fix, so that’s what I did.
Legit cut ties with damn near everyone and moved out to the boonies for a year and a half to figure shite out. Went through hell and back but it was definitely worth it. Rarely rarely drink now. Hell, I’ve drank more in the last 4 nights than the last year and that has been just a couple of quick shots before bed to help me fall asleep.

Congrats man. A year is a pretty big milestone.

Damn. Coke isn't good enough for people anymore?
This isn’t the 80’s or 90’s. Things have changed.

That's how I finally sobered up. But ypu pick up a few things in rehab, or twelve step that help along the way.
I have a hard time in programs.

Yep, spent a year traveling. Came back broke, but changed.

frick addy. I was prescribed a 70mg vyvanse in the am, a 30mg vyvanse in the afternoon. And a 10mg ir addy as a study kicker.
I’d rather die than take addy or vyvanse ever again.

Alcohol is too far part of social acceptance. That is what makes it hard to quit. The withdrawal symptoms are nothing compared to other drugs. Try being addicted to lortab for 5 years and then quitting cold turkey. Worst 2 weeks of my life but I did it. You can stop anything. The restless leg syndrome; diarrhea; sweats; depression; and just irritability almost did me in. I haven't touched a pain pill since 2012 when I was prescribed 5 percocet for my dentist work.
If you want to quit something you feel is jeopardizing you, you can. I drink now, but I do not crave it at 8 am the way I did opiates.
Stay away from the bars.

I feel like half the time I talk about my experience with drinking in here I get mocked later about it, but alcohol withdrawals are horrific.
I also find it rather shameful that a bunch of jerks appear on here to call someone a "quitter" who is trying to stop substance abuse.
The reason is because those same people are very envious that someone wants to stop and is trying to stop. Whereas, those jerks are too weak to "quit" even though - deep down - they know it's not good for them. If they can say something to cause you to fail, it makes them feel better about themselves.

I took a lot of shite when I was in HS in the early 80s but they would not even tell you what they were. Greenies, black mollies..
