whether it be a masters or undergrad? I was looking at some graduate programs and noticed that Arizona State offers alot of different programs completely online. I was looking into getting a masters of education along with the principal certificate. I also see that LSU offers a similiar program online but doesn't have the certificate for prinicpalship along with it. My question is do employers look down on online degrees, even if that degree is from an accredited brick and mortar university like LSU or ASU and not some money grab place like University of Phoenix.

The employer has no idea you completed the classes online. Maybe if they ask for a transcript but even then I don't think transcripts denote whether a class was taken online or not.

I got my masters of Ed from Grand Canyon University. There is a brick and mortar school, but it has grown due to its online programs. In education, as long as the college is accredited, it doesn't matter if it says ASU, LSU, GCU, or Yale. It's just a preice of paper that makes you qualified to apply for principal jobs.
I don't know what the principal certificate is, but you need to get a master in administrations and pass the praxis.

Do you have five years of successful classroom experience?
Do you have the flexibility to complete a full year Principal internship?
If you can demonstrate success with both of those, you are in good shape. If not, consider waiting.

quote:no. just googling and looking for a Masters program to enter. I work 9-5 so an online program would fit me a lot more than going to night class

I have a brick-and-mortar degree from Northwestern State University. I am completing a second degree online and should be finished in May. You might check their website. They have quite a few online master's degrees for teachers. I am not in one of those programs and can't give you any details about them, but I am sure there is plenty on the website. The degree is the same as one you would get from sitting in a classroom. It indicates zero difference.
I started at LSU years ago, but had entirely too much fun. There were limited chances to get in trouble at a smaller school, and that is where I thrive. Lol

Got my BS online from ULM in Monroe. I already had an AS and I've never stepped foot on their campus. I didn't even go to the graduation ceremony. They mailed my diploma to me and nowhere on it does it say that was earned online.
