What is the difference between this and the other one, when the woman says it?

My mom used her first middle maiden last names. A lot of women don't even change their names anymore.

Mrs. Fury kept all her names (included adopted father's last name) and added Fury.
"Goes by" first middle and married name only.

My wife wanted to keep her middle name and drop her maiden name but the lady at wherever she went said it would be easier for her legally and in dealings to just drop the middle.

My wife dropped her last name and took mine. Nothing else to it. The middle name thing seems weird to me.

I remember back in the day somebody asked dear abby about naming conventions. She tried to be hip and say everybody should hyphenate their names.

Then someone pointed out that everyone would have eight names after 3 generations oops!

Most married women (nonfeminist) that I know have done that.

I always thought women kept their original middle name, adopted their new last name, and perhaps in conversation might refer to themselves as Sara Smith-Jones etc.

Can never trust a hyphenated last name. I am just saying

Well that would make it easier. Can you imagine her trying to go through airport security if half of her was one name and the other half was another name.

Girls shouldn't even be given middle names. That way they don't have to worry about dropping it.

I've always hated my middle name(Lynn....like a freaking hillbilly or something when you say a girl's first name and Lynn together) so the marriage name change was a perfect excuse to be rid of it forever without hurting my parents feelings. ("But Dad, this way I'll still have our family name")

Why? At the end of the day it's simply a name.

This

I honestly have RARELY heard of them dropping their middle name in exchange for their maiden.

Whenever i have seen it on Facebook i just assumed bitches added their Maiden name to middle name spot so old friends could still find them if they searched for them.

But my wife went from AEW to AEM name wise and it wouldnt have happened any other way

Must be where you live. Many of my married friends(including myself) dropped our middle name and kept maiden as the middle. I even asked at the MVD when I got my driver's license changed if most married women dropped their middle name and the woman working there said yes.

I'll tell you this, if a woman has intentions of not taking her new husband's name, run for your life. She'll make a terrible wife.
