Beat me by one post.
Yes OP. You've read only 1.25 books of his. Majority of his books take place all over Maine. He will constantly drop subtle to outright references to towns, plots, and characters.
"It" is a great book. The Stand as well.
Every King book is about Maine or a writer or a writer in or from Maine.
"It" is the only book of his that I had to put down for a bit. Or any book really. Gave me the heeebs.
Also, if you are more than 5 pages into It then it's not a spoiler. Eyes filling with rain is a frequently repeated image.

Yea that is a big part of his style. Let the reader form the imagery.

I've read almost all of Steven King's Books/Stories as I'm sure many here have.
I'll just say that I think he writes about where he grew up.The people, the landscape, and his imagination.
Enjoy.Great stories.

Derry is fictional, but he took the name from a real town across the state line in New Hampshire.

Don't even bother reading Carrie. It was Kings first book and it shows, even he hates that book.
My favorites are IT, Different seasons, Skeleton crew, Nightshift, Bag of bones, Needful things, and the Shining.
I still need to check out Salems lot and Pet cemetary

Salem's Lot was the 1st one I read.I enjoyed it at the time.
I've got a Book of Short Stories by him that's excellent.
Misery may be my favorite, behind The Shining, which is great.

Apt Pupil is my favorite.
It is awesome? It may be in the same book as Shawshank? I can't recall.

King mentions Shawshank prison subtedly in the beginning of IT. Saw that he wrote the Shawshank novella during IT. Interesting

King is one of my favorite authors as well and I've read so many of his books.
That said, he melted like a little bitch when Trump won and I think abandoned social media because of it

Apt Pupil, Shawshank, and The Body (Stand By Me) are 3/4 in Different Seasons.
And (4) The Breathing Method, I think, is just as well written...plus it ties into The Tower IMO.
