I saw where that mom and her 2 young children burned up in Kaplan over the weekend and they were taking donations to pay for funeral expenses. They lived in a trailer and looks like they didn't have much money.

My question is, if the family can't come up with money, what happens to the bodies?

Most funeral parlors have a lay-low-away policy.

To my knowledge, the state of louisiana will pay to have the bodies cremated then placed into a simple urn.

ETA: (my guess) the funeral home will most likely dispose of the ashes and re-use the urn for someone else.

"What happens to bodies if funeral is too expensive?"

Does that work better?

To beat the exorbitant cost of death my family signed up with Univ. of Memphis as a medical donation. Screw the vultures out milking us for thousands upon thousands of dollars for putting us in the ground. UoM will pick up the remains and distribute for research at ZERO cost to us.
