I was on that side around 12:30ish sitting at the redlight at BC Hwy and Woodland when one of them flew so low I could see the pilot's helmet then 4 of them flew overhead in formation. I sat there through the green light.

What is best way to get there if you are coming in on I-10?

We came from BR

Took US90 across the river and exited off Gen Degaulle.

Essentially used Waze

FYI. We left BR at 10am and didn't park until 1:15pm.

The ride out was faster. Only about 1hr40mins to get home.

I knew that it was mostly LSU fans at the Air Show today because half the damn crowd left during the Blue Angels performance which was baffling to me.

Why the hell would you sit through 2-3hrs of traffic at then peace out at the best part?

About 3:30 was when their ground checks started. Takeoff was 3:50 (I think)

Most tents take cards but hit an ATM outside of base if you wanted to be careful. Couldn't find their ATM.

Blue Angels started at 3. They ended at 3:40.
The other shows start at 10. Around 12 there was an F18 show, then about 1:30 there was an F16 and a P51 Mustang that did about 20 minutes of show. And several other stunt planes throughout the day.

Tips:
Bring lawn chair and sun screen
Plan on heavy traffic on Belle Chasse hwy going in, it took us over an hour from crossing the bridge in belle chasse to parking.
And then leaving it's gridlock getting out. People started leaving during the Blue angels and now I know why. Best to just hang out and walk around the exhibits for another hour or two after the show ends.

We walked to the bus stop during the blue angels show and watched the rest of their show from the bus stop to get a head start. I knew the lines at the bus stop and in the parking lot would be awful if not

What a show. The F-16 flew with a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt not the P-51. Seeing two of my favorite WWII airplanes in the same day with my old man and my daughter makes today a top five day in my life. I only need to see a P-38 now and my life will be complete.

There is an ATM on site, it's right in front of the River Rattlers building behind the Jack Links BBQ truck. I would advise bringing plenty of cash though because the lines to the ATM were ridiculous.

The Angels were awesome as always though it's a real shame that Fat Albert is out of commission right now because I love that Herky Bird.

Seeing the B-52 static display was amazing, as well as going inside the KC-135.

My freedom boner is raging.

Youre right, P47. I was stuck in the line to get in and didnt hear what it was.
Id seen the same show before but with a P51 so i assumed it was the same.
It was an awesome day indeed though.

Watched the first jets from my front yard while washing my work truck, and good God it was frickin hot. My 2 year old was outside with me, and he's been loving watching them all week. Went inside after I finished, and normally my son fights me to stay outside, but today he walked inside himself. When we heard the Blue Angels the first time, he handed me his sandals to take him back out. Barely even got my chair set up and they were done. I was a little disappointed...

I saw that exact formation, because it caused me to almost wreck my work truck pulling back up to the plant from lunch..

I found it quite pleasant outside today. The wind was blowing and the clouds would periodically block the sun. And I'm Guy who loves his air conditioner. It's set on 66 right now.

The base is basically my backyard, the entrance off the highway across from Chevron they had open today is about a mile north of my street. Those clouds must not have made it that far south.
