So are Boeing and Airbus the only real players in the game these days?
In the large, long range game, yes.
In the regional jet market ( a large segment) you have Bombardier and Embraer.
Airbus owns majority stake of the Bombardier C series and renamed it the A220. Looks to capture a large market share.
In the US hub and spoke model the regional jets are a vital component to an efficient operation. The C series is a game changer with respect to interior comfort and operational efficiency.
Delta and JetBlue have ordered a bunch.

Love the 380. Helluva ride.

The newer CRJ's that SkyWest is running in and out of BR are a hell of a lot more comfortable than those ERJ-145's

Building those at Brookley Field in Mobile, AL.

Agreed... smoothest, quietest ride I've experienced.
Arrived less fatigued than any other aircraft, period.
Too bad it seems doomed at this point because Airbus bet wrongly on how long range travel would evolve.
The long range twins with ETOPS seem to reign supreme because of one fundamental... Fuel.

inefficient wing, poor power to weight, flight management system is like a Tandy 1000 compared to the Honeywell used on Boeing, it's really dumbed down and that it was designed for "certain" markets really reflects that, was designed more or less to "protect" itself from (inexperienced, poorly trained,)pilots
That may all be true, but I find the A320 much more comfortable than the 737.
A350 isn’t bad either. Like a poor man’s 787.

It’s comfortable in the back, 737 is still a 707 fuselage

What you’re saying is true, and goes back to Arab fuel embargo days and before there was ETOPS, U.S. carriers have to compete against foreign carriers that are largely subsidized by their government. That’s why the four holers are all gone.

Embraer and Boeing are in a JV as well.
Boeing is going to announce in the near future if the are going to build a new plane as well....797. Will be twin isle but smaller than the 787.

The only thing new about Skywest's CR700s is their service into BTR.
Unless you're in First the CRJ is much worse from a passenger standpoint than the e145.

Those are big smashers as “airliners ,” were meant to be corporate jets.

Will do. Waiting for you and 600 of your colleagues to retire this year

Dude, 70% of the seniority list will be gone in less than 10 years. Move it!
ETA: over 5 years to go and number is ~50

Damn, so you work twice a month if that?
I'm doing DFW-HKG next Friday you ever pick up that trip? Any suggestions there?

A320 3x3 config already sucks. It's either I pay extra for 1st class and get a big seat, or have a small space for flight. If the flight is 2 hours no problem, however when you start moving toward 3,4,5 hours. That kinda fricking sucks.
Unless your obese, you should be fine.

On a weekend baw? Are you crazy?

CRJ is a piece of shite
The new E175s feel like being on a 737. Actually better with 2-2 configuration.
