Have a wooden paddle like that one. Also have a plastic one for my cast iron grate can’t use it while it’s hot.

I second the ball of aluminum foil. Disposable. Cheap. Available.

Scrape grill while warm then burn off any residue.

Those who don’t clean their grill before using probably don’t wash their hands after taking a shite. Just plain nasty people. Nobody wants to eat your pork chop from three weeks ago.

If you're using the Wally World Chinese made "grill brush" you get what you pay for.

This is hands down the best grill brush you can buy.
I've been using this for 5 years and I grill a lot. Available at Costco, Amazon... $18 range

4 years ago I had to go to the ER for this very reason. Wire bristle got lodged in my throat behind my tonsil. I knew instantly what it was.

I use the "grill rescue" brush. It's basically a sponge

this happening only once a year isn't really newsworthy."

unless it happens to you. I personally am happy to get the information. What a nightmare that would be.

I saw a reenactment where this happened to a teenage kid on TLC. The bristle pinched off his small intestine. It was brutal.

You may not get good quality if you buy a grill brush from Money Tree for $1.25.

The backyard isn't the only place wire brushes are used. A friend found a wire bristle in his Waffle House food.

Definitely the route to go. Get the grill hot, then rub with the wadded up aluminum foil.
