When I worked at the bank, there wasn't a month that went by where I didn't have to try and stop some old person from being scammed.
It happened so often that I told the tellers anyone over the age of 60 who came into the bank to withdraw a large some of money, or asked for a cashier's check had to sit at my desk to talk with me first.
I stopped a good bit of it. Others refused to believe they were being scammed and demanded their money now.

I've heard that a lot of these scams are really from inmates in prison. I guess that's why they're always trying to smuggle phones into jails.
