When I worked at the bank, there wasn't a month that went by where I didn't have to try and stop some old person from being scammed.
It happened so often that I told the tellers anyone over the age of 60 who came into the bank to withdraw a large some of money, or asked for a cashier's check had to sit at my desk to talk with me first.
I stopped a good bit of it. Others refused to believe they were being scammed and demanded their money now.

I've heard that a lot of these scams are really from inmates in prison. I guess that's why they're always trying to smuggle phones into jails.

100% concur. Most military officers aren't particularly smart and if she feel for something this simple/poorly done, that my dog wouldn't fall for, she needs someone over her finances.

I just don't answer my phone for anyone not in my contacts. If you are legitimate you'll leave a voicemail or send a text. That simple.

You’re right.
Unfortunately, my parents still have a fricking land line. They answer every call when they are home. They haven’t fallen for a scam, but they get upset with the callers. No idea what they think they are going to miss out on when it’s an unfamiliar number.

I used to screw with phone and text scammers. However, my number got put in an auto call register and I was getting like 40 spam calls a day. I just ignore it now lol
