We should all know more over the next few days how really fricked up it will be.
I would probably head out to 459 instead of trying to cross downtown. But like said everyone will know more over the next few days.

There is an ALGO app in the playstore to use as well.
I downloaded it today and it has a traffic map that seemed pretty up to date.
WBRC has an app as well
99.5 will be covering a lot of this.
ALDOT is supposed to have 4 choppers up all day tomorrow to keep up with traffic flows and seeing what changes need to be made to detours.

The city of Birmingham is an absolute shithole. The downtown area is nice but everything else is basically Jackson. The southern suburbs are extremely nice though.

Birmingham is way better than Jackson. There are some nice areas and pretty scenery. Decent breweries, golf and restaurants. Mountain Brook is probably one of the nicest suburbs in the South.

What's also fun is that on the first day of rush hour traffic with no 20/59, Metallica is in town at the BJCC with doors opening at 6pm.

I didn't venture too far off of the little strip with Texas de Brazil. The hotel and that street were OK. A quarter mile away was fairly rough.
