PSA - BR Traffic Just Took A Back Seat To Birmingham

As a matter of fact most cities just took a back seat.
In 3 hours ALDOT will shut down Interstate 20/59 through downtown Birmingham for the next 14 months to replace the elevated Interstate.
Traffic that can't be diverted to the southern bypass will be detoured to surface streets downtown to get around the shutdown.
Over 160k vehicles pass through this 1 mile stretch of interstate each day.
If you are going to be passing through Birmingham in the next 14 months you should plan ahead.

I’d rather slit my wrist than go to Birmingham

I'd like to throw you in the backseat, big boy.

Is that near the Top Golf? I noticed that they had some major construction going on during Thanksgiving. We were staying at the Westin in that area.

Take 459 through. Avoid downtown.

I'd drive 6 hours out of my way to avoid this place.

Yes
Top Golf is probably fricked unless everyone decides to stop there for drinks to lower their blood pressure.
All traffic from 20/59 will be diverted to carraway Blvd that runs in front of Top Golf

Can't, it's full of Rams and unused penalty flags.

That would be funny if I actually lived in Louisiana

I live here in Birmingham.
It’s gonna be awful.
It’s gonna be longer than 14 months.
It’s gonna be like Birmingham always is but worse.

Living in Atlanta, I always chuckle when I read posts about how bad the traffic is in places like Birmingham and Baton Rouge.

I get that
Atlanta has what? 5x's the population of Birmingham. Birmingham doesn't have a northern loop(they fricked up when they didn't do this 13 years ago)
Imagine no northern bypass and you have to shut down I20 through downtown Atlanta.

You’re like a wannaba mingo huh?

City: BR >>> Bham
Suburbs: Bham >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anywhere in Louisiana

I prefer BR to Birmingham. So does my wife and she grew up there. The Birmingham suburbs are far nicer than anything BR has though.

I use the junction and 20/59 to get to work everyday. Needless to say the next 14 months are going to be awful

O/U on traffic rage induced murders in the next year? I'm going with 6.5
I'll be responsible for at least one.

What's this "bypass" you speak of? We don't have anything like that 'round these parts, so when part of the Baton Rouge interstate system shuts down, we're basically just screwed.
