Daughter is still deciding where to live. Her and the boyfriend both waffle on getting married. If they don't get married, I will not help buy them a house. I am not going to put hard earned money into that, for him to just move and take half in 10 years. My money is locked down, working a turnaround to bring interest and dividends home. I often don't buy things I want because the money is on lockdown.

Just put in an offer on a home.
Under 30. Regular job holder… not a lawyer, Sr, CPA whatever.
Thought this was impossible in this day and age.
Good for her.
Better than paying someone elses house not.
If I may be so bold, what does she do for a livng?

I think it’s pretty fair to not want to live in a tract home that will be falling apart in 5 years and have no resale value that costs you $350k
As was demonstrated in the OP, you needn’t pay so much, and it won’t be falling apart if you pussies would roll up your sleeves and take care of your property.

If its a DR Horton built home tell her to pull the offer.

My nephew worked hard and did same at 28 as an LSU construction management grad.
The rest of the nieces, nephews, and younger cousins all bitch about the system being unfair and how boomers messed up income and housing.
Discipline and hard working hardly ever fails.

How much? I saw a lot of starter homes being built in a new subdivision near where I live. But they are about 330K. Not really a starter home. Did she get a 600K shotgun in New Orleans?
$330k is a bargain and is definitely starter home territory. Shoot, a lot of DR Horton homes are around $400k these days

This is so exaggerated. My son graduated from LSU as a civil engineer and bought a house just a couple years out of college in his mid-20s. Not close to a six figure salary yet by any means.

Attended a HS that offered courses in heavy equipment operation. Two days after graduating he went to crane school. (18)
Took a job with a large company that does bridge construction.
Started out as a hand on a pile driving rig. (19) Year later they made him supervisor on that barge. Some of the older operators took a liking to him and allowed him to start getting some time on the bigger cranes.
At 20 he took a job on the west coast with a different company as a small crane operator.
At 22 he had moved up to one of the big cranes. He told me that the majority of young guys like himself can’t pass a drug test or drag up because they get homesick. His biggest vice is hunting and snowboarding.
The negatives. Lives on the west coast away from his family. He’s currently trying to get on in S Louisiana. It’ll be a decrease in pay but he will be home.

So boomers did not rob her of wealth, opportunity and happiness?
She earned her opportunities?
Glad to hear that the conflict theorist garbage is just jealous BS from whiney basement dwellers.
I share your pride.
Mine are also prospering.
I wonder how that is possible?

Had a laugh cause I thought you meant a daughter making $100K and I wondered which club she was stripping in. Not that I would patronize such an establishment. Great ambition for your son, but there is some value to being closer to family.

Well, lead the way and share your daughter first, eh?
