I have a family member that has early stage prostate cancer.

Are there any high volume/experienced prostatectomy surgeons in Louisiana? Sure, there are many doctors perfoming this operation. But frequently incontinence happens after.

We're in the Lafayette area and are considering MD Anderson if necessary.

They don’t necessarily remove the prostate - I’d suggest consulting a professional

ALWAYS get a second opinion on prostate cancer. There are lots of doctors making money off those surgeries on guys that don't even need the surgery....

I can think of four people I know were were told the needed the surgery, went and got second opinion, and no signs of cancer.

If I ever get cancer somewhere that I can live without, fricking take it all. I don't give a shite if I have to live with a bag the rest of my life or not. Take it, take it all, and take my money to do it. I don't want to frick around with any cancer of any type.

Bookmarked. My levels ( prostate)were elevated in February. They gonna check again next month. Getting old sucks I’m at Dermotolist office now about to get some precancerous spots burnt off. Mid 50’s and feel like I’m falling apart. I was athletic when I was a young man now I’m always having something go wrong with my body ... sigh

I feel you, I had Mohs surgery done just last November. It wasn't too bad really but the caring of the wound afterwards was kind of aggravating. You're doing the right thing getting to it early while they can just freeze them off, that's much less trouble and costs less

Yes, I do but I went back in January and it was starting to improve then. Go back in July for another stress test and echo to check on it. Hopefully it has improved some more. I'm too young to check out anytime soon.

Be careful with them stress test. Lot of baws kick it during those. Guess that’s how you fail the test.

Don’t be in a hurry to remove the prostate. As mentioned, get a second opinion, even a third. Urologists are very divided about how to treat prostate cancer. It grows very slowly and there’s no need to rush into anything. Do more research. Find a urologist who will explain everything to you and then let you choose how to proceed.
