Audubon has that many and you don’t have to be a member or pay dues

Pros and Cons of New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club
For tennis players and non-tennis players.
Sounds like a good place to go a-MILF-ing.

Well share the info then.
I'm also interested in the initiation and annual cost for the Southern Yacht Club.

Wife’s been dying to join for years; finally took the plunge. Nice facility. It still hurts when I think about the money. Love the pool and the courts. They have a small fitness area that leaves a lot to be desired.
Hombreman, would you say it's been worth it? Do you and your wife play a lot of tennis or use it more for socializing and/or the pool?

10k fee to join, 1k for shareholder stake. 1k in sales tax, so ultimately 12k to join. Dues are about 300 per month.

So far we have been using it a lot. Kids are joining their tennis clinics for the fall. We do have a number of friends that are already members, so that’s nice having people to join you at the pool or to play tennis against.

Do you rememeber when they were on Loyala between Louisiana and Napoleon? I remember when they moved to the current location in the mid 70s or so. Bought the lot from the Poydras Home. I've been to quite a few functions/parties there over the years, but never was a member.

Is this what they’re calling the upstairs at Ricks now ??

I'm assuming the pool closes in winter, but the courts are open year-round?

Friend,
While I am not a member, family is, and I have played many games on those courts.
Pros:
10. Good and well maintained courts
9. Has clay courts in a day when hard predominates
8. Decent food options in the club
7. Good weight room and showers
6. Court reservation system works well, and if you are on time, other members and visitors respect your court time.
5. Has 12 courts, the same number of apostles Jesus chose.
4. Women at the swimming pool do not harass you like they do in private homes. I dislike swimming in public because the women often harass me, but not so at NOLTC.
3. Great reciprocity benefits with other historic membership only tennis clubs throughout the States.
2. One of the most underrated places in the city to host a private event. I believe it was birthday ten that Mother hosted here. It was not as fun as Pizza Hut, but my gifts were of a higher quality.
1. Still maintains a good unwritten dress code. When I played here last, about five years ago, I wore a blue Perlis shirt. A snooty member informed me that blue was not a welcome color on the courts and next time I needed to wear white. I was grateful not to be expelled, but also appreciate that a storied club maintains some standards, just as I was reminded at Commanders once that blue jeans are not permitted (I entered with jeans only to make a reservation).
Cons:
10. Parking lot is cheap with old blacktop and faded painted lines.
9. Club seems to prefer crepe myrtles for landscaping. I know that large shade trees might be problematic when trees are dropping their leaves, but I would appreciate the shade while playing.
8. Courts are not that well lit, so evening games are less than great, as opposed to the courts at City Park and Chateau.
7. Does not require jackets nor ties while socializing. IMO, any time you are not playing or exercising you should be in proper socializing attire. What kind of club allows for such lax regulations?
6. Lot of very old and grumpy members that sometimes flatulate while playing or while walking behind them.
5. Christmas party we used to attend there never praised our Savior, whose Being is the reason for the season.
4. Outdoor furniture now is cheap. Like HGTV remodeled house furniture cheap.
3. The new slide at the pool is not for adults. The last time I ever swam there the lifeguard yelled at me after I made a triumphant entry through the slide.
2. No grass courts. Grandfather used to tell me stories of playing on grass there when he was a kid. I’ve only played on grass a few times and it’s more enjoyable to me.
1. Snobland, primarily for those in the medical professions and descendants of those who used to run the city. Lot of crossover with SYC. Fewer and fewer good members of CCC and SCAPC visit the tennis club.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Nice facilities, but very overpriced. Audubon and City Park are adequate, open to the public, and reasonably priced.

Aside from the tennis, if you live nearby and do not have a pool and have kids, it's a good club to join just for the pool and to let the rugrats run amok
