These numbers are wrong. Where did you get them?

Your statement means that 2% of high school kids will play D1 basketball and then only 1.1 additional percent will play D2 + D3 + NAIA, etc. This is just obviously incorrect. In 2017 there were 18k-19k NCAA basketball players--only ~5500 were D1. This means that the participation rate from high school to non-D1 is higher than the participation rate from high school to D1. page 82

These are the official NCAA numbers, then you would have to add in all of the kids who play NAIA.

100% wrong if it’s baseball. And if I recall from Gastons older posts, it’s probably baseball.

Just saw this. Place kicking? Definitely get the trainer. And I would video the hell out of it.

And screw all the haters in this thread.

Yea, getting an All American who lives in NOLA and puts on high school camps. I contacted him on the side and he's going to be great for my sons development. Really needs to start learning the kickoff. He's always had a remarkably powerful kick, but it's 60 yards to the endzone in high school and hang time is key. He's got a couple of years though.

Just ask if it’s ok to film, the trainer should be ok with it. I’ve taught PK and punting lessons and had parents film, it’s not a big deal unless you post the trainer instructing on YouTube without permission. If your boy is 12 and doing that well already, he’s got a bright future ahead.

Eta: just noticed he’s kicking essentially off of the ground, that’s great. I didn’t kick fg’s off the ground until the spring after my senior hs season ended. Definitely a learning curve transitioning from the block to ground.

He's 12 so I'd ask him, he's getting to be the age where they don't like to be treated like kids anymore even if their parents aren't quite ready to make that shift.

OTOH if you are taking video as future study material and present it that way, ask him if he wants that.

Gaston, frick the haters. I’ve been videoing my son private and group lessons since he was 9. It’s a very useful tool to make them better.

College scouts strongly suggest any player, any sport that wants to play at the next level video as many reps as you can and create his or her own YouTube channel and link the channel to their online profile.

That’s college recruiting 101.

Private lesson or not, you’re not videoing the coach, you’re videoing your kids so he or she can go back and look and see what they need to fix.

shite no. He can get it over the uprights from 40 (30 yd line) off of a 1" tee though. From 35 he can do it at will, both hash marks.

He wants me to video his free and penalty kicks in soccer, but I get too damn nervous.

I'll be a wreck for football.

People 35 and under in this country grew up being told they are all "special". It's why they turned into the arrogant little counts that they are. Now they are passing the delusion on to their children.

You're constantly posting about your kids playing sports. That's your plan for their college tuition, isn't it?

Posts like this make me appreciate my parents more. They let me be a kid, explore my own interests, and not try to live their life through me. I’m sure you mean well OP but when the kid is older is he going to look back and reminisce on all the great practices he had as a kid? Do you work with him this much on his academics and why not?

shite no, I've been saving in a 529 since he was tiny. Almost every day, weekday or otherwise, I either take him to soccer practice, sailing team practice, kick footballs, or club soccer tournaments. I had a child, what am I supposed to, just ignore he's a kid and wants to be active? It used to be kicking n the street, or tossing the disk, or hitting tennis balls in the street, now it's more formal.

They're only kids once, and I only have one.

No, I graduated in physics from LSU and got an engineering degree as well...I think STEM careers are over rated. I don't want him to go to college to play sports, I want him to go, study what he wants, be a punk musician or whatever.

High school is all boys and for 7 years here...sports are king and girls like kings...I just want him to be a happy, healthy kid.
