Apparently, driving drunk is look down on severely among the youth these days.

When was ever not looked down on? While we were guilty of drinking and driving, getting a DUI was always something that was shunned when I was in high school.

There is so much money in DWIs that the courts will have to make up the money elsewhere. Stay tuned.

Us old farts need answers. I really want to know the answer of my 2nd question about the fine as girl in the advertisements with the purple claw 'tattoo' on her cheek. How did she age? Like fine wine or beef jerky?

As a fellow old fart, I stopped by the Bulldog about 3-4 months ago on a random Saturday afternoon. Place was empty and seemed...worn. Kitchen was closed, place had a worn feel like Freds used to.
Chick behind the bar was a freakish looking individual ( not that there’s anything wrong with that I guess). But it wasn’t the old bearded, beer nerd I was used to seeing back there and the whole place seemed as if time had passed it by.

Right. It was never about public safety. Law enforcement since the 70s or so has become all about revenue for the state.

Had a group going fishing with Charlie Hardison years ago in 8 vehicles. I told everyone be sure not to speed through Golden Meadow it’s a speed trap. I stopped at the Popeyes by the bridge and they went on and when I went down the bypass Golden Meadow Police had all 7 vehicles pulled over as I went on by.

When they got to Fouchon each one said the cops told the driver “45 in a 30 that’s $100 cash or go to jail. “ They each forked over a hundred bucks and drove on.

When they got to the two black guys going with us the cop told the driver “45 in a 30 that’s $100 cash or go to jail.” Then he leaned down and looked at the black guy in the passenger seat and said “$100 for you to son for being an accomplice.”

They paid. Those fricking cops sucked.

You basically had to drink and drive back in the day going out

Uber was a total game changer. One of the best inventions of the decade

Bulldog seems to still get the same folks it used to get, they're just a bit older now so they have kids and aren't there as often as they likely used to be. They seem to certainly still be doing fine, especially for games, but it doesn't seem to be the packed house every night that it used to be.

I noticed you don't see the 21-22 year olds in there anymore like you used to. Cousin at LSU told me she doesn't know anyone who goes there, but she also commutes back to New Orleans on the weekends so unsure.

Combine that with the city having more options and a similar age group/atmosphere like MCBG, Twist, etc.

20s are less likely to drive, and they drink far less alcohol drug than previous generations.

They do love their heroin though.

Pretty sure rates of drag racing and VD among teens have gone down as well. I fully expect this generation to start blowing its brains out in record numbers, though.

Cops pulling over every vehicle that left the parking lot for a couple of years will kill that night of the week

Ride sharing is incredible.

Fun story, I was once in an Uber in Nashville and the driver got a DUI while he was taking us home

We just chilled on the curb while he was getting arrested and called another one that was there in 15 minutes.

Bulldog still gets packed on Wednesday’s in the beginning of semesters as recently as last spring. Also pulls a decent crowd on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons. The cops stopped parking at CCs a few years ago probably due to Uber and Lyft.

Man, this was crazy and not an exaggeration really. A few times we parked in Southdowns across the street and would walk to the Bulldog then walk back to our cars a couple blocks away to drive home. Not wasted, but definitely over the limit.

I just don't drink and drive now. It is ridiculous to do so with Uber/Lyft.

Yep, we started to park at the CVS on the corner then walk over. When leaving the bar, you could take a left on college towards I-10 and avoid that stretch of Perkins. The police would just make up excuses to pull over people leaving the bar

I had a frat star pick me up from the chimes after a game. It was pretty late. He seemed like he had couple. We went thru a dui check point by morning glory. The cop let Him thru cause he had a Lyft light on. Didn’t even stop him.

I got a DWI my junior year of college, right before uber came to BR, that is still affecting me today. I take responsibility for that, but I only drove after waiting almost an hour for the taxi I called to arrive. I can say that had Uber been around, that would not have happened. Ride sharing saves lives, and the people who fought against it coming to BR and LA are what is wrong with our state.
