I just scanned the thread so sorry if I missed some stuff.

What is shite hole about Key west?
peeejay, how much time has your dumbass spent in Detroit? Just curious.

Still don't get the mouth breather problem with Nola. It's been 30 years since the city has been as good as it is now.

I thought it was awesome as a kid (late '70s)

Wasn't a pretty city in the 70s.

Seems to be a common theme. Thanks, Section 8!

New Orleans, I guess is the most obvious answer

How's it a shithole? Assuming you are referring to crime I think it's more that you're exposed to what's going on via social media outlets than ever before.

As for the aesthetics of the city, certain areas are some of the most unique and beautiful places I've ever visited. Granted it's no Vienna, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Florence (a few places I've visited and thought were beautiful) but I think it's prettier than, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Atl, Chicago to name a few. Nola does have some beautiful old places. And people are pouring a lot of money to make it even better. When was the last time you took a walk around Audubon or even the quarter?

Not the prettiest city I've been to at all, but Brownsville in the late 60's early 70's was very nice. Kind of upscale Metairie homes on large lots with BBQ in the air all weekend.
Heard it's a shite show now.

I don't think it's a shithole in general. It's more of one certainly than it was in its heyday as a city, though, and it's the obvious "pretty city" many people on this board may now think of as a shithole type place. I've lived in the city proper for like 20 years and have no plans on going anywhere else any time soon. I appreciate the Knights for my home --- I guess.

I'll go out on a limb and say that was when you were younger right?

No, I don't think I was alive. When it was at its highest population is when I would say. 60s or so. It was also likely its heyday as a major city in relation to the rest of the country around the civil war.

In the 50s-80s it was a regal old southern town with gorgeous homes and historical downtown draws.

Now, it's awful.
