I'm not downplaying anything really. Just countering the claim that he called the travel restrictions xenophobic. That didn't happen. I conceded it was fair to say he inferred it in the speech he gave where he accused Trump of being xenophobic given that the speech was given the same day the travel restrictions were announced.
The actual original claim was "the left" lost its minds and called it xenophobic and racist. There was certainly a lot of outrage on Twitter from liberal folks, but not much from Democratic office holders.
