Lowest floor of the building, near the center, and away from windows. Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible. If you have some type of helmet such as a motorcycle helmet, bicycle helmet, football helmet, etc. put it on because many deaths in tornadoes are caused by head trauma.

Suboptimal.
Fewest windows, as close as you can get to the middle of the house.

Hoover PD having to do swift water rescues

Y’all helped me more than you know from 2-5am 8/29 during Ida in that mega thread. I’d buy each of you a round if I ever saw you.

That was a hell of a time for all involved. Just radar and news watching from afar was tough, but nothing compared to what you folks went through. I hope you're all still recovering well.

I feel like it was not a couple years ago that we saw the same thing going on in that area.

Make sure you got your shoes on too.

And I usually grab my wallet and keys.
Also, one really good idea I've seen is to keep one of those boat air horns in your safe space. It can be used to help rescue crews locate you if you're trapped.

That was a pretty incredible late night/early morning on TD watching that thing bottom out. The OT shined that day.

Seriously, spend the $40 and purchase a weather radio. It has battery backup and doesn't rely on cell service. It will be rolling even when the power is out and cell towers have been damaged
