This isn't Soviet Russia, the cops don't get to demand to see your papers any time they want for no reason.

Black lady brought up the race card, within about 15 seconds, unprovoked, and refused to answer the most basic of all questions.
Is that a violation of the law?

The cop was not being forceful. She reacted to simply being touched on the arm. She reacted by turning away to prevent being arrested. She controlled the entire incident.

It sounds like she acted like an aggressive fool to another driver, punched the driver's window glass in a threatening manner, was pissed and defensive that the cops were called, was defensive from the start with the cops, refused to allow them to engage her in civil conversation so they could try to de-escalate the situation between the women, and the resisted arrest, forcing the cops to take her to the ground to put cuffs on, when they first tried to apply them when she was standing.

You telling me you wouldn't be agitated if cops came up and started wanting your name (which you are not legally obligated to give) b/c some lady got pissy with you in a school parking lot?

If I'm in a traffic situation with another person and they thought I was driving erratically and the cops came, you are absolutely fricking right I would answer any questions the cops had, because I'm not a moron. I dont' think I'm "keeping it real" or sticking it to the man by being defiant. I'd tell them my name, birthday, any other qeustions they had. You know why? Because if I feel I'm innocent, me telling my side of the story is the best way to get MY side of thigns across. Refusing to cooperate and being a dickhead does no good whatsoever.

It's not like they approached her and forced her to the ground immediately at gunpoint. They were JUST as civil with her at the start of the conversation as they were with the white lady. That's a fact. Their actions were dictated by how both ladies responded to them.

Uhh no that is not how it went down

The cop said he'd give her two minutes to call her BF to confirm if she had to give them her name. (Which she does not have to do according to the law in California)

He instead gives her maybe 20 seconds before he starts grabbing her and trying to cuff her, pushes her into a fence, and then shoves her to the ground.

That isn't begin reasonable at all.

Papers? Did they ask to see her social security card and recent mortgage statement? They asked her what her name was so they could fricking document what happened, which is exactly what they told the first woman they were going to do.

Orly? I think we know that for a fact, considering we have evidence not 2 minutes prior with them interacting with someone else and not throwing her to the ground.

Well the officer acted irrationally and illegally. Why you think providing a name would change that is a mystery.

Maybe she could have avoided it by providing her name, but we don't know that. We do know if the law enforcement officer had followed the law, a pretty basic standard imo, then this would not have happened.

Maybe they should only manhandle people when the situation actually calls for it, and "calls for it" should no longer include making the officer feel disrespected.

I approach every officer I see and give them my ID just to be safe.

you have yet to say what they were arresting her for and I didn't see it in the article. someone can't get arrested for resisting arrest, there has to be a reason to arrest them in the first place.

The lady was not randomly accosted by jack booted militia, you dumb arse. She started some shite with another driver and then acted like an a-hole to a perfectly reasonable line of questioning by a cop.

I don't think this can be stated emphatically enough. People don't realize this but much of the Inland Empire makes Baton Rouge look like Paris.

and she refused to give it which is her legal right in California.

the cop then told her she'd have two minutes to call to check about having to give her name but instead of waiting to the two minutes for her to calm down he gave her 20 seconds and started grabbing at her and pushed her up against a fence.

Why are you ignoring that she wasnt required to give her name or that the cop flat out lied to her face about letting her have time to call to confirm if she had to give up her name?
