re: Predatory car wreck lawyers have skyrocketed insurance costs across the US.

I was involved in a small fender bender with a city bus….less than 5mph. Had 7 people claim injury, including one gentleman who wasn’t even on the bus (guess his buddy gave him a hot tip). 0 of the people sought actual medical attention, all went to a “pain clinic” partly owned by attorneys. Fortunately all got settled for relatively small amounts and the jackass who wasn’t even on the bus lawyer withdrew the case when we called bullshite on it.
I’m still furious my insurance company didn’t try pressing charges against that piece of excrement.

All the billboards and TV ads didnt already have you convinced? It took a fender bender to open your eyes?

Pain is invisible! These folks didn’t feel it until their cousin told them to call an attorney.

The attorneys are not the problem. The problem are the State Legislators for crafting laws that allow bullshite lawsuits.
That's just like saying, wealthy people are taking advantage of loopholes within the tax law. Change the fricking law.

Shenequa’s $15,000 settlement with GEICO is why our rates keep rising!
I mean yes, it is.
GEICO paid out $36B in losses last year. If even 5% is people just playing the system, that’s $1.8B in excess losses. Executive compensation is one of the most absurd talking points out there.

In a parking lot? Get wrecked
A city vehicle (fire truck) hit an empty parked car.
The city contacted the owner of the vehicle with insurance information to complete a claim for the vehicle damage.
The owner of the parked car had called a lawyer.
Again.... the car was empty.
The lawyer commercials are working. People call lawyers after accidents and they don't know why.
Even drivers who cause the accidents call lawyers. Because... why not? What is it going to hurt to ask what the accident is worth?
American culture is brainwashed right now by trial lawyers. Get in an accident and you too could have won the lottery.

sounds like a question we should be asking our State fricking Legislators about, doesn't it?

Get hit in a car accident? Good for you. Get your payday.
They hope it happens to themselves one day and hope the jury takes the same liberties with damages/awards.

I thought it was just Louisiana, now they’re causing rates to rise across the country?

Jesus dude. There are over 6M car accidents in the US per year. If each wreck is awarded only $15,000 that totals $90B
Please dont embarrass this board with your self-serving CEO compensation posts again, from a trillion dollar industry

You’re not giving lawyers enough blame here.

The only thing worse than the trial lawyers running up damages on frivolous suits are the insurance companies and their paid for politicians and lobbyists running up premiums on hard working customers
Bull shite.
If the plaintiff attorneys couldn’t so easily shake down the insurance companies in Louisiana rates would come down. Louisiana is ranked nearly the highest in the country in insurance rates because of how plaintiff attorney friendly the laws are here.
You’re talking about an industry (auto insurance) that competes almost entirely on price. The insurance is going to make their money regardless in the form of raising rates. If they didn’t have to account for the ten of millions of dollars paid out in BS claims and litigation expenses the rates would come down naturally as the companies compete for business. Not to mention those same plaintiff friendly laws have chased carriers out of the state and keep potential carriers from coming in.

But several billboard attorneys are the official sanctioned LSU Tiger Football plaintiff attorneys. Isn’t that special.

Do you know what a jury of your peers look like in Orleans or Rapides Parish? I do and it’s not anything an insurance company will take a chance with.

Time for lawyers not being able to advertise on TV and billboards again.
