Prayers for Lonnie Dog

Hey guys, if you believe, could you send a prayer up for Lonnie Dog? He has been through at lot in his 13-15 years. He was a rescue who had been shot with a BB and had a fracture jaw that did not heal properly. He has been my best friend for years, and while I could probably had done more, I did the best I could, and I think he IS happy with his lot in life. He and I have dealt with his diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma and recent deafness. He started throwing up on Friday, and initial blood work was all over the place. I took him to MetVet in Mandeville on the recommendation of my vet. They could get to him faster than LSU. Other than him having diarrhea all over my lap on the trip, I got him there yesterday. Although I stopped at my girlfriend's to clean up, there is only so much I could do. Think of being covered in shite from approximately Port Allen to Mandeville and back to Lafayette. If he was human, Lonnie Dog would be laughing his arse off.
The vets are still trying to narrow down the issues, and they were instructed to be blunt with me about whether continued efforts are more for my needs over his best interests, as my judgment will easily become clouded.
Here is the rare Lonnie Dog in his natural habitat.

Beautiful dog. Hope it's something the vets can fix.

Sounds like it is time, my friend. We often way too long because we don't want to see our best friend go.

Is this a lowkey “I read books” brag?

Here's to hoping Lonnie Dog can get fixed up and pull through.
We do the best we can as just people. We give our love and support to those in our life, be them pups or people, and we try to do the best we can for them. That love and support is what keeps them and us going, but it is that love and support that makes it difficult to see them suffer or pass. It is a double-edged sword that we seen both blessed and cursed with.
Keep doing what you've done to this point......love and support Lonnie Dog, and he'll continue to do the same. Doing so will guide you both to keep doing the best you can for each other......whatever that may be.

Vet said not yet, in response to my question. There are possibilities they still want to rule out that may be treatable with meds. As the vet said, my mission is to do what is best for the pet, not the owner. He said he would tell me when it is time. I should know today.

God I love the OT! That laugh was certainly needed.

The gall bladder and liver numbers are going down from the test done in Lafayette. Some other numbers are still off the chart. But, they want to do another blood work panel tomorrow to see if they are headed downwards, as the tests done in Lafayette were not as sophisticated. His appetite is UP, as the doctor said he would probably eat a side of beef, if we let him. The doctor said that if the specialist tomorrow does not see anything, and the numbers are heading down, he may come back tomorrow and be treated with medications. So, not out of the woods by any means, but some of the more worrisome concerns they had are being check off the list.
The OT's prayer network cannot be discounted!!

So sad. I've lost three over the years and it never gets easier

Prayers for the great Lonnie dog.. You are an incredible pet parent and will know what to do for him...
I too have an elderly rescue who was shot with a shotgun and has lived her whole life with the aftermath of that vicious act.
People are cruel.
Dogs are awesome.
