She has lived a life to be proud of and might go down as one of the most liked first ladies.

41 started his political career in the 60s. Started off as a state senator (or representative maybe) then working up to VP then president. She had 5 kids? I think one passed away at an early age, but one of her kids was governor of Texas then becoming POTUS, another was one governor of Florida. She did a lot of charity work. When her number is called, which will likely be soon, may she rest in peace.

When I was working for a local TV station, Barbara Bush came through campaigning for her husband.

We had an interview set up at a house in Broadmoor. It looked like the lady of the house had been cleaning it for years. Little plants in cup-and-saucers placed on the floor near the windows in the room set up for the interview.

While setting up, either Barbara or my reporter accidently knocked a cup over, and a small pile of dirt was on the dear lady's carpet.

When I turned around, my reporter and the First Lady were on their hands and knees, hand scooping the dirt back into the cup, hoping the owner would not notice.

I looked at the Secret Service agent, who made a gesture like this thing happens all the time..

One other encounter. I was flying back from California, and she was on the flight. She was in first class, but made a pass back through the cattle car and shook hands and spoke to all the cattle..

Classy, gracious lady.

She has dedicated her life post-White House life to the cause of literacy, and she and her husband have raised more than a billion dollars for charity since they left office.

That's not bad for a couple of retirees. May God bless George and Barbara Bush.

My graduation as well

And then James Carville for my masters in Dec 1993. Funny as hell, but ideologically different.

implies State level

he started off in politics caiuse his dad Prescott was a US senator
then he was Harris County Republican chair
then a US congressman from Dist 7

not a state rep as was inferred in the cripples post

Nixon’s wife died before him.

It’s happened 9 times.

John Adams, Monroe, Fillmore, Pierce, Hayes, Arthur, Wilson, Hoover, Nixon.

There were a few others that died before they took office.

Barbara Bush was more of a man than you'll ever be.

I would guess that hell is pretty progressive. She can probably continue with this through "identifying."
