That’s really more on WD for selling their company.
The “Awesome!” girl who handled carts and bagging was hired by Rouses (airline/germany) location. So kudos to Rouses for that

Do you expect them to keep staff when they close?
Most of the Winn Dixie stores were purchased by Aldi for conversion into Aldi and are still being operated by Southeastern Grocers as Winn Dixie until the construction crews were ready to move in. That is when they layoff the entire staff during construction and rehire and interview new applicants at reduced wages and staffing levels as Aldi employees.
Now Aldi is slowing some that Winn Dixie transformation by selling some of the stores that will not fit into Aldi’s umbrella.

Aldi has good cold cuts and cheeses. I really like their sourdough bread. They have a calzone that is great for a bring to work lunch. They have really good house brand sparkling water and they have an animal cracker cookie that tastes EXACTLY like the ones McDonalds used to have in the 70's.

Well yeah, every time I walk into an Aldi I see one employee max.
That’s intentional and part of the entire model

lol at people shitting on aldi. can park close, get in and out quick, not have to deal with people, and cheap AF. yes, if i want specialty meats or some random ingredient, i have to go to rouse or somewhere else. but for 95% of my groceries, aldi is it...
plus i LOVE that they have no shame in stealing another product's image and selling it as their own.

I didn't either. But I wanted to save some money so I visited again. Some friends told me what they like to buy. I got a weeks worth of groceries for 70.00. Meats, vegetables and starches. I also picked up a few pantry staples.

Would be nice to sell live crawfish like the old Winn Dixie

It’s more than that. They don’t have hardly anything. Sometimes name brand, next time store brand, next time nothing in stock.
I had a WD 1/4 mile from my house and liked it but it’s an Aldi now and I rarely go there.
Aldi is like a giant gas station store. Hope they don’t last and that location can become a Kroger or hopefully rouses would move into Alabama.

Yep, saw her in there last week.

There's no way you can do 95% of your grocery shopping at Aldi. They have like 4 aisles in the whole store although this one in P'ville will be alot bigger but it's still a bunch of junk mostly. The best things are the cheese and some produce & wine. The meat section looks like Tj max with everything scattered and picked thru.

more on the subject of customer service... I was just joking to my wife that wouldn't it be nice to have a gas station that you'd just pull up and an employee would pump your gas, check your tires, clean your windows, etc. But, hey we've evolved as a society.
There are many times that I just don't want to deal with self-serve. And there are times that I don't want to deal with people.

They sell their shopping carts for .25 cents. That's where the savings ends.

Wish Winn Dixie was still there.. This is gonna suck because Aldi sucks....I predict it fails miserably in Ascension Parish.
