Yeah, and they only traveled a few towns over. That would be like driving to Alexandra for a little while and claiming you migrated.

I wonder if they have one that says "Jesus was against abortion" and another that says "Jesus was against gay marriage"?

This. Every one is forgetting they fled with Jesus after he was born to protect him.

Houston has gone full-on cuck.

There are 3 churches by me in an affluent area that ALL have both the LGBT flag AND "Illegal immigrants welcome here". wtf

ETA: Money is money despite where it comes from in their eyes. I do think that if you take political stances, you should forfeit your 501 status.

I'm pretty sure this is referring to how Jesus, Mary, and Joseph had to flee to Egypt to escape the persecution of Herod after Jesus was born. It's described in Matthew chapter 2.

No they weren’t.

According to the stories, they went to the home town of Joseph’s family, the House of David, for a census that their government required.

Nope, not according to Luke. He was born, went to Jerusalem for a traditional ceremony and headed back to their town of Nazareth.

Correct.

quote:

Egypt was a logical place to find refuge, as it was outside the dominions of King Herod, but both Egypt and palestine were part of the Roman Empire, linked by a coastal road known as "the way of the sea", making travel between them easy and relatively safe.

So much bigotry in this thread.

Calling out mega churches is a perfect example of stereotyping a whole from the negative actions of a few. God will be the judge at judgement time. Not you.

Maybe stoping judging everyone so much and worry about yourself.

I heard that idiot congressman say something similar and just had to decide to leave people to their stupidity.

The "argument" makes absolutely zero sense in any way. Did Jesus teach lawlessness, promote unfairness to those who follow the law (especially the written law, duly enacted through the people's representative government), and endorse those who exploit immigrants for political gain?

What is the implication here? Of course the Son of Man had no place to lay his head, but to compare him to mobs at the US border is the most absurd thing I can possibly imagine.

Jesus also claimed to be God, and was a substitutionary sacrifice for mankind. How many of these "migrants" are planning to be flogged and crucified to redeem us?

That pastor should be fired and anyone who goes to that church seeking Christian teaching should rethink his choice of congregation and pastorate.

eta: I just realized this is Joel Osteen. Why anyone would even acknowledge him as a Christian "leader" in any way is beyond me.

How low IQ do you have to be to confuse migrants with illegal immigrants?

No. He migrated to earth via Mary's womb.
