On another note, looks like Super Bowl weekend will be miserably cold in Minneapolis.

Friday forecast that weekend says a high of 9 and low of 0.

Snowing 3 times in one year in LA would be a nice to the climatologists.

For each record low there are more than 2 record highs being set over the last year in the US

Faint hope that rds (dc) will weigh in to say that this winter may cool the gulf down and hinder tropical storm development for 2018 season.

Note to rds: I totally cop to grasping at straws

Doesn't really work that way. The tropical season really gets going in August and by then we have had plenty of warm to very hot months and Gulf temps will be soaring. Plus, this cold weather only cools the shallow waters. Those deep waters are hardly affected by the cold fronts.

Wrap them appropriately and never have to worry about them. In the attic and outside, cheap and a good winter project to work in the attic.

The local news guy here in Houston said last week that he wouldn’t be surprised if we had another round of this in February. He said the same pattern that is keeping the west dry and giving Colorado less snow this year is making us cold and wet.

Enjoy it now because in 4 months we will be bitching about the heat.

I much rather the heat than the cold so I try not to bitch when it gets really hot.

Grreeeaaaatttt! My place is soggy as is. Just once while I own horses, I'd love to have a dry fricking winter and spring.

Funny you say that - it was 50 degrees above normal in Bilibino, Russia a few weeks ago. The average high on 1/6 is 0 degrees, and it got to 50 degrees that day. Highs stayed above 27 degrees for 6 days straight. Even that artic blast we got last week was only 36 degrees below normal at it's absolute peak.

I know it's crazy to consider, but global temperatures are about more than just the lower 48 states.
