I no longer have a deck after Ida got through with it.

My boys have done a number on the deck. Looks like a hurricane hit. Also time to pressure wash and paint parts.
Entitled dog lounging in the only corner without dinosaurs, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, dirt, mud, coffee grounds, and whatever random crap they drag out there daily. One of our old dogs has decided it’s okay to poop in another corner even after I’ve just walked her or she’s been out running around. It’s like she saves one chunk for her favorite scenic dump spot.
I gave up. I just escape to the front porch.
I’m clearing a few more trees that are blocking our summer view. I’m about maxed out on that for the summer. Super steep hill and a rocky cliff. Truly a jungle back there.
Pre-jungle spring is nice:

Cute with the dinosaurs. Fun fact: My wife thinks dinosaurs are made up and all the bones/fossils are faked.

I do like the look of the black spindles on the railing. Are those aluminum?

I approve of your use of all metal spring chairs.

That's standard porch spindles these days you'll find on most new or recently remodeled/rebuilt decks. The black metal spindles as you call them and the Sherwin Williams stain DD3113.

Florida decks are a little different. And they have a funny name for them. Lanaii. Whatever.
My last house in Georgia had a deck and it was on the first floor but we had a full basement so it was 12 feet off the ground. Never really liked that. I don't think the construction was ver good either. Posts were twisting, boards constantly bending up. Bad construction.
Now we ground level and like it

Yep. My son moved to Tampa in January and this looks very similar to his set up.

Mines in progress still. Got more than half of it done.
Looks great! When I retire in about 5 years we purchased a 10 acre plot of land in the country. I hope to do something similar with that deck.
