I like Post Malone.

He’s fricking garbage and it’s indicative of our culture that he’s the biggest music icon in America.
Disagree.
His lyrics are shite but he is actually unique, has his own sound, and is talented.

Covering Nirvana "All Apologies"
Covering Bob Dylan
He is a gross looking human being, but he's a talented guy.
He didn't come up as a rapper. He actually was in metal bands prior to rapping, and played country as well. His unique style is most likely due to his wide range of music that he played while growing up.

You should adopt this statement as the entirety of your musical knowledge.

Hate to break it to you but most famous rappers are suburbanites

Music, tv, internet, movies, print.... all transmitters of pop culture. How does one avoid it all?
I don't watch TV except for football, internet is limited to a few sites. I avoid pop culture because it's poison.

They have and have mostly been correct yet as a 90s teenager, pop then was better than pop now and the 80s pop was better than 90s pop, this crap now is unbearable. It all sounds exactly the same. The formula, an 808 bassline, sing songy hook and some variation of the same voice changeover/autotune/whatever synthesizing crap they do now.
Take a rundown of the top "pop" artists and you'll see they are all the same thing. To at least give Post Malone some credit his sound is somewhat different but yet still the same formula. The singers all sound the same and follow the same formula of hit. The rock is an abomination and the so called rap isn't really rap
Rap/hip hop influence gets the blame for these days putrid sound and for what they've let it become it deserves a lot of it. However, again as a late 80s ,90s era teen , what they call rap these days is not really rap. It's why the ultimate rappers sell what they do, excluding Drake, as h is the epitomy of the mainstream, follow the trend, type artist. The talent of now's artists is unarguable it's just that the formula they follow is extremely flawed.

Never heard of him. I clicked on the link and to me its garbage. O well.
Currently on the patio with a drink listening to the stones. To each his own.

There are some people that like him. But really not my cup of tea. As do not listen to anything from 1994-present. Am an 80's child with a Baby Boomer Mind.

I am a middle aged man and have recently found Post Malone's music and have enjoyed it... I'm normally listening to alternative from 90's or Billy Joel type stuff... I looked for his music after I kept hearing about him every where, so I had to see what it was all about.
It's not for everyone, but to each his own. Catchy stuff for sure, but you have to go in with an open mind.

I feel like all famous people need to at least be attractive. No one wants to see this. IWNHI.

But does being famous add attractiveness to someone? Mick Jagger for example. Ugly AF.. Women loved him.

Dude makes easy to listen to music. It doesn't overwhelm you with the beat and the lyrics aren't frick every other word. It's nothing special, but better than 99% of today's pop.
Yes, its still music.
