I'm just excited to see the cities best and brightest moving back now that those rocks are gone. Guess my property value is going to go up even more now. Thanks Mitch!

So like a lost cause based on the supremacy of capitalism/democracy over Communism?
Using your metrics, the Vietnam and Korea memorials should be torn down as well.

Can't wait for Mitch and his Stasi to take down Jackson. That will be great theatre.

You and everyone else just got duped into outrage while the "leader" of the city allowed it to fall apart so he could further his political aspirations at the expense of his constituency.

You have no clue who P.G.T Beauregard was do you? Beauregard was an early proponent of equal rights in Louisiana, serving as the outspoken leader of the short-lived and ultimately failed unification movement.
The movement was a coalition made up of prominent white and black New Orleanians that called for integrated schools, public places and transportation and voting rights for black men, two years before Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1875 and nearly a century before the enactment of major civil rights legislation in the 20th century. Beauregard was the group's chairman.
"I am persuaded that the natural relation between the white and colored people is that of friendship," Beauregard said in an address published in July 1873 in papers including The New Orleans Republican and The Daily Picayune. "I am persuaded that their interests are identical; that their destinies in this state, where the two races are equally divided, are linked together; and that there is no prosperity for Louisiana which must not be the result of their cooperation.

As to the point behind taking them down, consider when Mitch first brought this up, and it was at his initiative. Hillary was a presumed lock for the Presidency & Mitch was priming the DNC for a prime position in her administration. Anyone who feels the murders in S. Carolina were the catalysts don't know squat bout the Landrieus and La. Democratic politics.

Want to tear down Andrew Jackson too? Washington? Jefferson? Tulane? Touro?

I don't think removing them is gonna solve this national issue. How stupid are you to take that literal?
This was an opportunity for the white man to extend an olive branch to the black man, over something that should have been so fricking insignificant to us. If they want that, just let them fricking have it. But no, the white man pushes back under the guise of prentending to care about a damn statue. Knowing damn well it's all about denying the black man.
Do I think Mitch handled it right? frick no. The process he used has been an absolute failure. His intentions were good. The process & the way he presented hasn't been.
Of course the people of New Orleans missed the point. Or the people of Covington as in OP, Metairie in your case, and the baton rougians up in this thread. You can't help but engage in racial jockeying

No, he said that the best and brightest have left New Orleans over the statues. What a moron. And you should be embarrassed for trying to defend his dumb assery!

I would think using that money and resources to improve the infrastructure and education of the inner cities is a way better use than a worthless metaphorical olive branch no one gives a shite about.
You have lost your mind, Lester. I have no idea why you're bending over backwards to defend Mitch, but I won't indulge your trolling anymore. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening.

frick you. Other than eight months after Katrina and my time at LSU, I was born, raised, and continue to live in New Orleans

"Outrage"?
No outrage here ,but amused by the spectacle & glad they are down.

I'm not defending him. I can see both sides. I'm hardly irrational or reactionary.
That being said, There's a more sensible argument to be made then "derp derp another murder guess that statue removal didn't work"!!!! If that is truly what you have gotten out of all this then that is sad. When people keep saying this it shows why LA is so low in education. My god

Promote racial equality, mainly. And also an attempt for Mitch to boost his stock, which I've already said he completely bomb at.
