This is the last picture I’ve taken. It’s a Cat 826G landfill compactor that’s about 3/4 of the way through a Certified Rebuild. The rebuild is complete disassembly down right the bare frame. All pin bores are machined to new spec, all components rebuilt or replaced, all hoses and harnesses replaced. When it’s complete it will look as new as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Cat will issue it a new machine serial number and warranty. Total cost of the rebuild on this one is estimated at just over $400K which is a little less than half the cost of a new machine.
The wheels on this one are temporary soft pad shoes used so it can be moved on concrete. When it’s done it’s wheels will look like this...
