Winston-Salem
Easy trip to the coast/outer-banks and mountains
More than just a college town
More room to grow, lower tax basis, and more conservative than most of the larger cities in North Carolina

Please expound on this. I'm wanting to see how this is a good thing for sure.

it just means raleigh/durham/charlotte are very liberal.

Charlotte is not liberal. It is moving in that direction as more and more 'ethnic types' come here.

Salt Lake

Charlottesville
I wouldn't live in any of them, but that's how I'd rank them although I've never been to Charlottesville. Salt Lake is overrated in this thread. It's very pretty and has lots of outdoors stuff to do...but it's still very Mormon and the Lake is very bad.

How old are you? I would agree with others that Charlottesville is a great place. Have had an uncle and a couple cousins attend UVA, but I don't think I'd want to live there in my mid-20s.
I would personally rank them:
(1) SLC
(2) Nashville
(3) Phoenix
(4) Winston-Salem
(5) Charlottesville

You are absolutely insane if you don't move to Charlottesville, most wonderful city on earth but so hard to get real employment there. You've won the damn lottery. How is this even up for debate?
