If you don’t want foundation cracks (especially true if soil has lots of clay). Foundation issues reported across Houston from last summer’s heat/drought.

For the last 10 days the GFS has also had a Cat 3 going in everywhere from Brownsville to New York, always 10 days out.

It's like the GFS just throws shite at a wall at 10 days, and then if it actually plays out starts doing it's real job.

It isn't just the GFS picking up on the heat. Though, it is more aggresive and widespread than the Euro.

Yeah, I seent it. I think we have a lot of these big heatwaves globally with the El Nino on.

Thats a shocking model output though Zapps. Would never expect that widespread 100+s this early.

Is this heat dome going to park and stay there the rest of the summer? This does happen.

It was often over 100 in early 2000s. This isn't something new

In fact the last few summers seemed mild

I've wondered if this issue could be exacerbated by how fast new subdivisions are built these days. We go from land being cleared, dirt hauled in, lots prepared, foundations set, and houses built in what seems like record time.

This potential heatwave would be accompanied by a couple days of pretty dry air, too. Lots of moisture would be sucked out of the ground in that case. Your advice isn't unreasonable, particularly if you're talking relatively new builds.

This isn't really true, at least for the Dallas/FW area. You have to go back to 1980 to see the type temps in June that the GFS is spitting out right now.

ETA: But, if/when this heatwave happens be sure to remember 1980 when all the "Unprecedented...." headlines start flying.
