This quick shutdown is done to prevent a multi day shutdown later. If you loose multiple controllers to Rona, the facility could be shut down.

I didn’t give my opinion on it. I’m just saying this isn’t new, or relatively uncommon.

In fact happened on a flight I was working not long ago. Was delayed due to maintenance in ATL, while MX was fixing aircraft DFW ATC was shut down for this exact reason. Ended up not even being allowed to depart KATL until 2:10 in the morning. Landing at KDAL around 3am local time. Ended up being a 7 hour delay due mostly to cleaning of the tower.

I was simply stating this isn’t uncommon nowadays. I don’t care to offer my opinion because it doesn’t matter.

This has happened multiple times over the last several months but usually the centers get shut down on midnight shift where traffic impact is minimal.

OP’s photo showed no aircraft in the Fort Worth center. What happened to the dual redundancy in our ATC system? Surrounding centers should have been able to pick up the workload while they shut down to disinfect. Takeoff delays? Yes. A Bermuda Triangle in the middle of the US? No.

That's my thought. How in the hell can a single need to clean a tower take down area air traffic for 2.5 hours? Why is there not a backup system somewhere? Why is there not a hot spot somewhere else that can take over? Why can't they transfer responsibility to other sites

This seems like a massive hole in our system.

No redundancy in that AT&T building, no redundancy in ATC, what the hell are we doing, America?

I know a few folks in medical field a couple nurses and a surgeon they are not being encouraged to take the covid test because of all the false positive results. Basically the hospital have told them they think the test are about 50/50 so basically if you got tested a few times you would have to take 2 weeks leave and if they tested everyone everyday they would close down.

This is for the rapid tests. The PCR tests are accurate but you have to wait for the results. Spent Christmas with someone who tested negative with the rapid, and now our household all has covid currently. The person argued that they didn't have it, later got the PCR test, and confirmed positive.
