Tallulah has a Popeyes and KFC. It's a boomtown compared to most of the delta

There is, however, a hospital and a wood pellet plant.
And the prison and LaSalle Junior High. I thinks that’s pretty much the whole town.

Seems like the kind of place that has a 500sf building that is an agriculture museum.

LaSalle Parish has a good bit of oil and gas and is wealthier than some of its surrounding parishes. IDK why Urania is designated so poverty stricken. Maybe the way the boundary lines are drawn or something. It doesn't look any different than the other little communities around there. If the prison is considered part of it, all those inmates with zero income would drag the average down.

Time Magazine once named Lake Providence, LA the poorest town in America. Think that was in the 90

the famous speed trap alley: Georgetown - Tullos - Urania - Olla
65mph to 55 mph to 45 mph multiple times in a 14 mile stretch
heading N , 5-0 is always at the X waiting for Southbound speeders
favorite parking spot behind pine trees
heading North and driving down bridge, 5-0 is waiting in little nook running radar

Fun fact: My dad was friends with them at Tech. He rode with them to Houston for their first job interview with IBM.

If it’s poorer than the delta town of Jonestown, MS… I would be blown away. I drove through there once taking a shortcut. I’ll not do it again
I've never been to Jonestown, MS but Mrs. Tigerdeacon and I drove from the Delta from Vicksburg to Greenwood to go to the Viking cooking school back in April. There wasn't a place I would stop for gas between those two towns except for Yazoo City.

The intersection of 84 and 165 used to be known locally as "murder crossroads" for all the accidents, usually from people running the stop sign. They rebuilt it so drivers on 84 have to make a right turn on 165, go down about a quarter mile and make a U Turn. It's a pain in the arse but it solved the problem.

Always thought Bastrop was the poorest. I’ve seen Google Earth pictures of that place and there is literally nothing there

Would fly on old US165 from GT to Tullos. Then the bridge was closed

This is because the reservations are not included. After driving through Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, I am appalled by the conditions that those people live under.

It appears Urania runs their city website on facebook, it looks like they often have boil water advisories

I came very close to running out of gas on that stretch of road

Its been a while since I've been thru that area but you are right about that intersection. I've almost been t-boned few times by people running the sign. The only thing I can remember about Urania was the signs along the side of the road, warning no one to pick up hitch hikers as they may be escaped prisoners.
