Everyone just says Disneyland here cause it’s closer.

You are correct, I’m sure you could have used it for both parks.

I mean the parks in general. I thought they were Disney gift cards that you can use at their store or at the park or pay for the actual trip.

Have sex with his wife and then send him a $49 gift certificate to Ruth's.

In NO anything less than 150 is insulting, I don’t need a down payment on my meal as a gift.

I guess it's lucky no one likes you enough to buy you gifts then, huh?

Great if you were planning to go....but otherwise what would you do with that but sell or give away?

Bingo. Just because it's valuable doesn't make it a good gift. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but it's common in the business world to use gifts like this to basically check a box without putting in any real effort.

They probably thought that was a place the OP already goes to, so that would offset the cost of one of their visits.

This was my thinking.

OP, you weren't expecting anything from this person anyway. If you don't go to RC and don't want to go to RC, then just don't use the gift card. I don't see what's so hard about that.

Ruth's Chris is fine dining? I guess so in Baton Rouge.

But giving you a Disney gift card and a Ruth's Christ gift card are two entirely different animals. The OP isn't debating whether or not a GC is a quality gift. He's asking whether a GC in this amount is reasonable or if it should have been a larger amount, considering the restaurant.

I could see that for some places in New York, but New Orleans?

I can think of one maybe two places I would blow $150+ on a dinner for 2 in NO.

Ruth's Chris is considered fine dining across this country. There are certainly better steakhouses, but don't be ridiculous.

Its a nice restaurant, but putting it anywhere near the top in NO is a little much .

some companies won't allow gifts more than $50 from vendors...not sure if this applies in this case. My company came out with this rule about 10 years ago. It's completely screwed up dome of the gifts we get and the door prizes we would get at our golf tournament every year.

OP said it was a "random" birthday gift from a rich acquaintance so 95% it was a regift.

It was either 50 bucks or nothing.

You sound jealous.

I am grateful. But yet I wonder, what is this for ?

You are not grateful. You are just saying it to sound humble. What are you wondering about? It’s free money.

$1. You are such a petty bitch. Who is to decide what is the minimum OTHER than the guy who gives the gift?

It's more likely something the recipient forgets about and never redeems. Both parties recognize it as a gesture.

Not really in your case. You are NEVER gonna forget it. You are painstakingly thinking about it. If it is just a gesture, not to be used, the amount would not matter.
