I had to work the festival when I was a student at Southeastern. I always dreaded that weekend.

Went to the "boats on the wall" mini festival in Madisonville instead. Caught the bridge on the way out but otherwise it was quite pleasant. Beautiful day.
Never been to the Strawberry festival but hear its crowded AF.

Wife and I went with the kid today. We walked through that cesspool of people looking for an area that wasn’t as packed and we never found it. We left. That shite was trashy and disgusting. I’ve never seen so many people at a festival in my life. We’ll never be back.

Pro-tip successfully deployed over 4 decades: go there as early in the morning as possible. Get out by noon, or at least right after the parade.

Went earlier… took me an hour to get drinks and food from one of the booths and my $3 water was room temperature… left immediately after…

Both interstate exits closed, but people still finding a way in there. It’s crazy how many people are packed in around downtown. We were there about an hour and bailed.

Yep I was told that about 1pm they were only letting a few cars at a time off of the interstate. I went for awhile last night and this afternoon to visit a few friends working at some booths on the grounds. Spent about 2 hours up there walking around and visiting. Plenty of ugly pot belly women with tats and a good amount of hot lil hoochies also. Didn't see any pit bulls or fights. Biggest crowd the fest will have ever had, probably push 400,000 for the weekend. No issues with traffic here. I live 4 miles outside of town. Less than 10 minutes from my house to parked and same back home. It is a shite show, way too many people, if I didn't live here I would never go.

Yeah its been like that the last few festivals, gets very dark early in the afternoon. Out of towners from New Orleans, but they spend a lot of money don't cause problems. I say good deal brings money in.

If you have kiddos that want to hit the rides go Thursday. Rides are open then for local kids 4-9 on Thursday, no food or drink on grounds. Friday the fest grounds open again at 12-10. family day food and drinks but no alcohol on the grounds.

My grandson has special needs and had a ballgame at Carrollton park at noon so we headed to the festival after the game.
