Four people have been arrested over online racist abuse aimed at members of the England team after Sunday's Euro 2020 final, British police said on Thursday.

I don’t know why it is not explained in the article, but England lost in penalty shootouts this past Sunday, and the 3 players that missed their shots to lose England the game, we’re black.

This was Bukayo Saka’s (one of the black players) Instagram comments after the missed penalty kicks.

quote:

A specialist team is looking into the offensive comments, police said, after three Black players -- Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka -- were targeted with racist abuse on social media sites Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

quote:

"We are working very closely with social media platforms, who are providing data we need to progress enquiries," said Chief Constable Mark Roberts, the officer responsible for leading Britain's policing response on soccer issues. "If we identify that you are behind this crime, we will track you down and you will face the serious consequences of your shameful actions."

Imagine being arrested for saying something online when you were probably hammered drunk… Totally against the racism, but thank god for freedom of speech.

I'll do you one better: England is so cucked that in response to the racism that the players are getting, people are BEGGING the government to require ID and remove anonymity from social media websites.

Freedom of speech does not mean that you are free to say anything. So many people don't understand this.

I'm not saying that I am for the arrests but freedom of speech is misunderstood by many in this country.

That could absolutely happen now in the USA. Not for monkey emojis, but things more serious.

It means exactly that as far as the government goes

Now your speech can have repercussions in career or personal life but you cant get thrown in jail for it

you are correct but you are free from government prosecution for any speech so long as it is not a direct threat or an effort to cause a riot.

Essentially you can be as critical of government as you like so long as you do not threaten. With a normal person, so long as you do not stalk, harass, or threaten a person, you can say whatever you like.

i.e. example I can say VABUCKEYE likes to suck dick and I can not be prosecuted for that, no matter the truth in the statement. I can be held civilly liable if you can prove you dont like to suck dick and can have civil penalties but i can not be held criminally liable.

True, but these people didn’t threaten violence or yell fire in a theater in any way.

Seems like the English authorities are racist in assuming the black players look like monkeys

I was permabanned from twitter for retweeting a pic of Kyle riftenhouse defending himself against physical attackers that had a caption requesting money for his defense fund. We are on this track
