The same. It isn't the distance from the Sun that matters, it is whether the planet has cleared its orbit of other bodies. Pluto is far too small to have done this.

So we're supposed to make the closest flyby sometime on Tuesday, correct?
I remember being excited and reading up a lot on this launch when I was 16 back in 2006. Back then it seemed like it would be ages before I finally go to see this event, and now it just snuck up on me. I seem to be the only one of my friends and family that care though.
Really wish there had been a feasible way to make a few orbits. Who knows when we'll send something else out there, maybe never again in my lifetime.

It wouldn't get much news because they would almost certainly be white with how cold it is out there.

Those are some big-arse craters. Hard to believe that the impacts didn't affect the orbit.

Couldn't disagree more. Science was cool for awhile and even provided some cool stuff along the way, like cellphones and medicine. But I think it's run its course and we've tapped that well dry.
What we need to focus on now is producing more political science majors and sociologists. That's where you're gonna see some real magic happening in the future.
