Weaver, I just read your updates, and it hurts my heart to know the pain you're going thru..It's probably good that you talk about it, and get advice & prayers from the folks on this board.

I have also contacted my employer to see if I can take FMLA time

Weaver, You may already have learned what your rights are but if you have not, I thought the following information might be helpful for you.

I have a pretty extensive Human Resources background and I can tell you that your employer (with a few exceptions) does not have a choice but to allow you take FMLA. It will be without pay if you do not have family sick leave benefits, but the company must hold your position open for you for 6 months (again, with a few exceptions) and make "reasonable accommodation" for you in your absence.

I hope this information helps. God bless.

Weaver, I have prayed that God will send angels to you to help you and your family through this, and I am certain they have been dispatched. Accept their gifts when offered and together with God's help you will get through this. My heart hurts for you, as it does for anyone who must endure this pain. Just make sure that your mom knows how much you treasure what time you have left and cherish those moments for they are precious. God loves you, Matt.

Weaver my prayers are with you. I lost my mom 6 months ago to brain cancer. It's sad and hard. I still cry and reach for the phone to call her.

My mom decided to quit taking treatments in the end because they made her more sick. She was just worn out. She went to MD Anderson too.

I will pray for you because its the hardest thing to see to see a parent hurting and having to let go. It also scary that the one who has always been there for you isn't there anymore. I still wake up time to time that it was all just a bad dream.

Weaver I have never met and probably never will. But you are going thru such a pain and agony that only someone having experienced can describe. May God bless you and your mom. I will continue to pray that her suffering will allow her a direct path to heaven and Jesus.

To all,

I spent Friday and the weekend with my Mom, she was able to do more than I expected, which is good. She was awake most of the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She had some chores for my brother and I to do, so we worked on that. We basically spruced up the backyard and she was able to get outside and check it out. We had a great weekend together. Starting next Friday, I will be with her every Friday thru Monday. I will need to maximize my time at home to the fullest, but I am willing to do whatever I need to at this point. I continue to pray and hope for a miracle, that my Mom will somehow beat this. If not, I just hope she can recover and get her strength back and do some things that she has always wanted to do. I continue to have a hard time with this, but thru prayer, I feel I am getting stronger.

To all, I cannot say this enough. Thanks again for all of your continued thoughts and prayers.

We're with you, Weaver. You sound like a real level-headed, loving son. Give your momma a hug from all TD-ers who have her in their thoughts.

Hey guys,

See the site below. I inquired about this for my Mom. I know she is a huge Tony Stewart fan, so perhaps this is something they can do for my Mom, so that she can meet him. I felt like I want to do more for my Mom and I know that would bring a smile to her face if she could meet him in person. I just feel like I need to do more for her than just to be there.

I said a special prayer for you and your mom. I lost my mom 7 years ago from cancer, so I understand what you are going through.

I am currently pursuing clinical trials for my Mom, although her oncologist doesn't know if she can physically handle this. I just hope by being off of the chemo, she can recover somewhat and might be able to participate in a clinical trial. I know I am grasping at straws, but I am doing everything I can to try and help my Mom. I have been praying, as well as all of you, but feel like there is more I need to do for her. I am also trying to find an organization that can help her, something similiar to Make a Wish, but for adults.

Anyway, again thanks to all of you for your prayers and kind words.

Matt
