To all,
My Mom had a tough week, as she was adjusting to her pain medicine, however she felt much better yesterday and was able to relax, instead of being medicated all day. It is heartbreaking to watch what is going on and to know that there isn't a darn thing you can do, other than to just be there by her and to pray. I am just trying to cope each day. I will be spending more time with her for now, but eventually feel I will have to be there full time. Again, all I ask is if you can keep her and my family in your prayers.
Thanks,
Matt

Feeling for you, Matt.
A co-worker of mine just found out one of her two sons is terminal. They thought his colon cancer had been defeated five years ago, but it came back with a sick vengeance everywhere.
He's been given months, maybe only weeks, to live. Though he lives in Georgie, he's moved to Carolina to be with his mom for his last days.
I just cooked a huge pot of red beans and rice with cornbread, salad, the works for their whole family on Saturday (I wanted to make gumbo, but was told slightly blander food is preferrable at this point, so I wanted to make something he'd enjoy). Other than praying, there's not much else friends can do.
You've got prayers coming. Just keep letting her know how much you love her. I'm sure that will make every day more bearable for her.
Hang in there, and let the Good Lord carry you through these tough times.

Done, may God bless her and you and give her and your family strength to make it through this rough time.

I really feel for you, Matt. Prayers are with you and your mom. It is stories like this that make you want to think about how you treat your loved ones and take them for granted.

Psalms 30:2 "O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me."
Never stop praying...

I went through radiation and chemo in 2006 for lung cancer. My recent broncoscopy showed negative for cancer redevelopment. I understand what you are going through. AMEN
I hope this prayer can help in some way s it did me.
HEAVENLY FATHER,
I call on You right now in a special way. It is through Your power I was created. Every breath I take, every morning I wake, and every moment of every hour, I live under Your power.
Father, I ask You now to touch me with that same power. For if You created me from nothing, You can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of Your Spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in me. Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Open any unblocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.
Let the warmth of Your healing love pass through my body to make new and unhealthy areas so that my body will function the way You created it to function.
And Father, restore me to full health in mind and body so that I may serve You the rest of my life.
I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

I remember in 2004 when my Mom told me on Memorial Day about her cancer. She said she wasn't worried because it was 95% curable, as she had stage 1 cervical cancer. Now almost 4 years later, it is terminal. She did everything she was told to do and it still appears that she will not beat it. I think we need to step up the funding for cancer cures. According to the stats on Livestrong, men have a 1 in 2 chance of getting cancer, women 1 in 3. It is already the leading cause of death in people below the age of 85. From the people I personally know that have had cancer, they all told me that even when the cancer went into remission, they all felt that the cancer would return somewhere else.

My Mom had a great weekend, other than being without power for almost two days. We did have a generator, so she could watch tv and we could power the refrigerator. I am continuing to pray and hope things improve.

Hello to all,
I wanted to update you all on my Mom's progress. I wish I had better news, but she has lost her appetite and she can no longer get up with help to go do some of the simplest tasks. It has been very hard and I have cried myself to sleep every night since my birthday on Thursday May 8. Everything finally came to a head on Sunday, Mother's Day. I tried to be strong, but I couldn't control myself and both my Mom and I were crying on the situation. I told her not to worry about me and that I knew somehow everything would be okay and that we will see each other again in heaven. I don't know if it will be days or weeks, but I told my Mom to let go and to fight for herself, not for us any longer. It is selfish of us to keep her here when she is suffering somewhat in living this life. She is not in any pain, but it is hard to belive things have gone so bad so quickly. I was just hear a week and a half ago and although she was weak, she was able to do a lot with some help. All I ask all of you is what I have before, to say a prayer for my Mom, Carolyn Buxton, and for my family and ask that God be with her when the time comes. I will keep everyone posted, but again I cannot thank all of you enough for your thoughts and prayers. This was a way of expressing my feelings to others and not having to be judged. I know it will be tough the rest of my life without having my Mom around, but I know we will be together again someday in heaven.
Thanks again to all of you.
