Ariat Jeans and Shirt is $140. That’s a level 2 I believe. It’s been a few months since I negotiated this contract for our company.

I seriously doubt someone was bragging about FRC jeans. Most “plant baws” don’t want to spend any more time in frc than they have to.

You’re probably making this up because you’re jealous and collectively bashing someone’s profession will make you feel better about yourself

This. Frick FR’s and whatever dipshite that probably never got out of an office AC that thought it would be a good idea for Pipeliners to wear them all the time on a ROW in the Summer time.

The Plant Baws I know are usually too busy bragging about their trucks to discuss work attire.

So what? It’s a tool required for their safety and to do their job. Go ask the average mechanic what he spends on tools and report back.

When you say plant baw, are you talking about somebody who actually works for the plant or a contractor? Plant employees absolutely make that much. Contractors, not so much.

Depends on position. Most good foreman are making 35+, most supers 40-45+, site and project management are making 55-75.

actually works for the plant

Depends too. Most operators are topping out at 45/hour. But they have way better benefits usually.

Same goes for the engineering firms. Plant engineers make same or less than those at a firm, but the benefits are way way fricking better. Honestly from what I have seen, contractors with the bigger companies have much better benefits than the engineering firms.

As far the jeans, if they are the designer araits with the white stitching they are 100-120. Those are the ones I wear, honestly feel like regular jeans just a tad thicker. I don't wear them outside the plant though.

I don't mind being int hem. I don't have to wear frc, only have it with me in case I go in the units but I just wear it, easier that away, plus I hate sitting behind my desk all fricking day. shite is boring.

I’m a senior project manager for an industrial civil contractor. I’m salary, but will agree with your assessment in my case if it is extrapolated over 50 hours/wk. I’ve interviewed with other well known and decent sized companies and have found that they pay less than you would think.

I just left a specialty civil contractor as a senior pm and I agree not all pay that, but many do. I know performance and Excel do and if on a actual big project it's more than that.

And I was talking about salary extrapolated for just 40 hours. Most guys when not in TA aren't working much more than that, 50 would be max during non TAs.

before i retired all of our fire proof clothing were provided us by the plant. Cintas actually, and I believe the plant rented the clothing. denim was one of the options.

All salaried employees at my company, Houston area, are based on a 50 hr work week. We are on the small side but hang with the big dogs as far as projects and project size goes.

$135 is about right for fire retardant jeans.

They are the same material as blue jeans essentially with a chemical coating that isn't "fireproof" but doesn't catch flame as easily as jeans.

I currently have a buddy that has ordered a massive amount of inventory to get into this field. A lot of oilfield guys are required to wear these fire retardant clothing at all times on the job.

Those likely aren't jeans...but if they made that type of clothing in Jean material, plant boys would gobble it up.

they are jeans. They dip them in a fire retardant material that is probably only good for about 20 washes but safety man don't care as long as it got the FR tag you good BAW

I personally thought they were cheap looking. He wore them to a tailgate. I think he was hoping that other plant baws would see him wearing them and be impressed.
