Not sure why so many people shite on this place. If you want free weights and no fat people then go to your higher priced gym. Don't bitch about fat people and then complain because there's a gym that they enjoy.

Yeah, I go there and love it. I like the little biggest loser section. Gets you a good all around workout and there is never anyone in there.

I do laugh at the pizza and candy thing. Saw this on one of the treadmills I was using one day and had to take a picture. [/img]

I can stay off the tootsie rolls but if they put like little bite size snickers or reecees cups in there I'd be in trouble.

I always eat two tootsie rolls before I work out.

right? Ive got friends who pay like $200/month to belong to a CrossFit box. Sure they are super fit, but that's all they ever do or talk about, which is tedious. And I don't know they are any healthier than me, they seem to get hurt all the time. Planet fitness is exactly the kind of gym needed for most americans, cheap and convenient and it gets you moving. Don't know why anyone would crap on that.

back in the day when I was in High School the local CiCi's owner was cool as hell. He sponsored our baseball team and also had this excellent promotion. "Beat the record, get your meal free and a T-shirt".

We would go for that all the time. My buddy who was a short paper thin wrestler, set the record at 35 and that stood for a while.

Planet fitness is the Walmart of the fitness industry. If you're serious about lifting you probably don't want to work out there. If you want a half-arse workout and don't really want to push yourself that sounds like the place to be.

Environment is really important when you work out.

Again, that's their business model. Everyone knows that. It's for people who don't want to work out around guys that say things like, "half-arse workout".

So it's for people that don't work out effectively but want to say they went to the gym?

No their perfect business model is being cheap as frick per month and going after the fatties. People that pay dues to say they "belong to a gym," but don't actually go or notice the $10 a month means that there's no equipment wear/costs and each customer is pure profit.

Finally, someone who understands their basic business model.

To me diet is more important than walking on a treadmill. Lost 27 lbs by eating non starchy vegetables and eating foods grown in a garden or tree. I still walk around two hours a week at the gym but you can't out lift your fork.
