Potentially looking for a nice area to live in or around Beaumont. Preferably no further than 30-45 min away from the surrounding area.

Lumberton. End conversation.

Maybe areas around Sour Lake or Kountze also.

Mont Belvieu? At least that way you're 45 minutes away from Houston.

I'm good with being somewhat outside of Houston.

Lumberton, no other choice. Low crime, good schools, nice housing.

Tell them you want the Baytown location instead. Then move to Houston.

My mom lived in Lumberton for several years and really loved it. Very quiet.

What's your definition of nice?

In town, the area around Regina Howell elementary school is good but most the houses are 1960's vintage. The entire area west of I-10 (the West End) is basically good. East of I-10 not so much. There are some nice areas west on Hwy 105 but a lot of those places flood. Stay away from Bevil Oaks as it floods every few years. But my aunt will sell you here house out there for cheap. Lumberton is where a lot of Klan sympathizers live and of course Vidor is where the actual Klan members live.

Absolutely not true. True the population is 99.8% white in Lumberton but that has more to do with the fact that there is zero HUD housing.

I wonder why that is? I grew up in Beaumont and everyone knew what Lumberton was about.

I grew up with a kid who lived on Thomas Road. His family bought the house next door and joined the 2 houses together. I used to go over and play basketball with him on his full court and we'd take a break and the family chef would make us a snack.
