Sambos on Acadian
I think we've been through this before, but I don't remember that place at all... When did it close?
Sambos was absolutely right there. It's one of the first establishments I have an actual memory of going to.

I remember when Cortana Mall was "the new mall". I think that I remember there being a series of fountains and waterfalls in front of the big stores.
The Weinerschnizel on Airline.
Going to visit family that lived near Earl K Long when that area was middle class.

was young but a restaurant called Duff's Smorgesboard or something like that. Food rotated around on large lazy Susan like wheel
They had one in the Hammond mall too. I thought it was the coolest thing when I was a younger kid.

Bought a used honda 175sl I believe from gn gonzales for college. Used to live in capitol apartments. My cousin had a reserved booth at sambos on acadian, he ate there so much. Drusillas drug store still open. Best malts ever. What was the name of the bar across the river on the road from I10 to Hwy 190 going to lobdell? Was it where the fruit stands are now or before it? On 415. Steinbergs and the athelic house were money. Brother worked at goudchauxs not far from the holsom bread place. Boy it smelled good going down that street.

You must be thinking of the one that was right off the exit from 190 onto 415.
The Sans Souci.
That was one tough-looking place, never stopped there.

The bread place downtown was Sunbeam, not Holsum. Holsum was on Choctaw.
Der Wienerschnitzel did two chili dogs, fries and a Coke for $1.99.
Both the Rebel and Broadmoor shopping centers had a Wesley's in them.
Around the Corner had decent burgers and fries but the ketchup always tasted a little fermented.

I'm pretty sure the theatre was demolished a couple of months ago.

A seafood restaurant on S. Acadian next to TJ Ribs. Had a delicious seafood muffaletta...I think I remember that place.

The village square shopping center on college was awesome. I remember there was chocolage, coffee call, a book store, craft store, kitchen store, little wars. I think there was a shoe place called Buster Brown, or maybe Ruffles and Britches? Anyway the center slowly started losing business then Walmart came in like 10 years ago. Some of the businesses managed to survive and moved elsewhere.

It was called Cafe Americane or Cafe Louisiane or something like that. That was where I discovered raw oysters. I think it burned down or something.
