But but but do you tip on the total with the fee or just for the pizza. And what about the tax. I'd really feel more secure if someone could explain this weekly.
Lets say you were watching tv with a friend and got a craving for a sandwich but didnt want to drive to go get it(lets say yall are college students low on cash). Do you think your friend would go get the sandwich for $1.85?
I think $5 is reasonable tip for every delivery.

Domino's has charged a pizza delivery fee for as long as I remember. A lot of smaller shops don't charge one. The money doesn't go directly to the drivers.

Total money grab by the chain.
You could always pick it up yourself

It is another money grab
It’s a business. Their job is to make money. If they charge too much then another company will charge less and take their business.
They are charging a fee because they are trying to pass a delivery cost to delivery customers. If you feel that it’s an unwarranted cost then take your business elsewhere.

I do not remember ever seeing this until recently.
Then you probably just weren't paying attention. It's been there at least since I was ordering pizzas.

But what if this "friend" were delivering 10 other sandwiches in one run? I would hope that friend would do me a solid and waive the fee.

If you don’t want to pay it, drive to the pizza store and pick it up

Well PrivatePublic doesn't understand how tipped employees get paid.
Exactly. It amazes me how many people don't understand it. If you have a problem with tipping, go to a fast food restaurant, or cook your own food. Also, buy your liquor or beer at your local convenient store and drink at home.

It's semantics.
Domino's paid a flat fee to a driver for every trip when I worked there for about 2 weeks in college. It wasn't the exact amount of the delivery charge, but we were paid per trip nonetheless.

A certain segment of our population is responsible for the gratuity you see at many restaurants when you have 4+ people.

Listen, you cheap bastard...please get off the computer and decide whether you want the pizza or not so I can get on to my other deliveries.

So one of you is going to have to be generous in this situation...and you expect the one not sitting his fat arse on the couch to be the generous one?
You sound trashy as hell

Actually some of it does, I did this for a year in college.
We were given a $15 bank, every delivery you received $1.25 that you deducted from having to pay back at the end of the night plus tips. It really wasn’t a bad gig besides the wear/tear on your vehicle.

You’re either an idiot or a troll. I assume the former.

You clearly don't catch sarcasm. It's not like we don't have a pizza fee/tip question every few days.

I should totally ask for a discount when I eat in or pick up.
I agree
However, I have been at a Papa Johns and been unable to pick it up (and not have the fee included) only to be told that it must be delivered. Told them they could keep the pizza and I wanted my money back so I could go to Waffle House and not have to wait for my food.
As consumers we can fight back with our wallet but most just give in

Having worked at dominos as a driver for a bit I can say for certain this doesn’t go “directly” to the drivers. We made minimum while we were in the store and then made “server minimum” while on a route. Although if our tips entered didn’t compensate for minimum then we were paid minimum for the whole thing. Our manager was pretty cool and would always enter our tips as $2 or whatever so we got paid a bit extra. Although in delivering to some of our clientele in Monroe that wasn’t too far from accurate some nights.

No problem with this at all
Just say a pizza is x dollars, not x dollars + fee + fee + fee
Case in point is football tickets
Just charge the ticket price and include the "donation", the "handling fee", the AD needs a raise fee
You get the picture
I have a cajun place I eat at a lot. Not only is the food good and the price fair, but what you see on the menu is what you actually pay as they have even included sales taxes in their price. Not surprising is they have a solid business with repeat customers. I never see ads for them and they seem to operate profitability with new and repeat customers.
Sadly, as mom and pops grow to corporate giants they reduce the quality that made. you go there in the first place with enhancing their wealth. I remember Mcdonalds from the 50's and 60's and they made good food at a reasonable price. Now they advertise the hell out of a product I would not allow my dog to eat.

Weird. I noticed them the past couple decades or so ago.
And they make sure to tell you the delivery fees are not tips for drivers. Hope this helps.

First and foremost, no one can answer this for you, different companies divide it differently. Stores, among chains, may also divide it differently as they are owned by different people. In short, no one will be able to give you the specific answer you are looking for.
For a chain company I worked for in High School the delivery fee, of 1.50 per, came directly to me. I worked in the back, helped prepare food, took orders, and also washed dishes while I wasn't delivering. I was paid 4 per hour, plus 100% of my tips and 100% of the delivery fee.
