We let ours decide on her own. I think she was 5.

What say the OT?

Wait until she's old enough to decide on her own, or do it as an infant? Will a pediatrician do it here?

I left that decision up to my wife.

I love all the people that "cringe" or think "it's so trashy"

Even though mine didn't get hers done as an infant, it's definitely one of those things I don't judge people for. I don't think it's an issue at all if a mom wants to get her baby girls ears pierced.

It's not a life changing body mutilation like yall make it out to be.

I guess my next question is how are people raising their daughters for them to be asking to get their ears pierced at 4 or 5?

I think we waited until our girl was 5 or so and she wanted to get them pierced. She and mom made a girl's day out of getting them pierced and going earring shopping while I laid on the couch and drank beer all day.

I wouldn't call it trashy, but when parents put earrings in their infants ears and add a bow around her bald head trying to make their daughter look like a doll all I do is

I don't see why a young girl having earrings as part of her daily dress is necessary or important.

My daughter didn't start asking until 9 and I refused until almost her 11th birthday. Even now, she only wears earrings for special occasions, but keeps those stud things in a few hours in the day.

Come on, are you serious? They're girls. It's natural for them to look at other girls around them like their mom, older sisters, aunts, and cousins who have their ears pierced and want to emulate what what they see.

When my daughter was like 4 or 5 she asked my wife when she'll get to wear a bra like hers.

Private school
And at 5 she was considerably independent. The boy was a moron; still makes ridiculous decisions at 8!

Who the frick even considers this with an infant? What sort of white trash societal pressure do people come under to where this becomes a question?
