You should try it instead of dragging your sore arse from thread to thread.

I was going to say the same. He looks proud of what he has and look how nice he keeps it. I bet he’s a kind man.

The overwhelming majority of homeless are in that condition for a temporary period of time.
I don’t think anyone here is disputing that there’s a portion of the homeless population that is there by sheer bad luck; eg. the poor dude that could barely afford his rent and then loses his job and ends up living in his car.
Those aren’t the types of people you see living in skid row.

Long term homeless camps are usually inebriates, users and mentally ill. But that's a fraction of the homeless.
The smarter ones squat in abandoned buildings, in the woods or crash with friends.
As long as there's services for them, you'll have homeless. Free meals, medicine, etc.

So if we cut off services, the homeless would just disappear?

Knew a guy that used to shite in McDonald's bags and hand them to homeless people by Gravier and Claiborne St.
"God bless you sir.."
"Yeah, yeah, have a nice meal"

Absolutely not, but their numbers would dwindle. particularly on city streets. They tend to congregate around the soup kitchens.

Sounds like a nice guy. Mentally sound for sure.

So they're going to go where, exactly?

The opposite of both
Of course I think he held a grudge because one of the bums that frequent the handout station under the skywalk by the medical school held a knife out at his sister while she was walking to class. He got a bookbag full of books

At least pick up the trash around the area, take some pride.

Which bridge in NOLA did they have to run all the bums out from under because of the rat problem?

Used to hop trains in the old days.
Most are at least semi nomadic, at least the ones not in temporary economic stress.
Some of the locals work the fish plants in the summer, camp in the winter and collect unemployment.

It’s funny that every presidential debate ever speaks about this issue and the fact that US streets are littered with homelessness but they would rather have open boarders to add even more stress to the population.
Also, it amazes me on a daily basis that New Orleans allows homeless tents to be seen in the Central Business District, Superdome, Convention Center areas which is the Mecca for tourists but will do sweeps along the parade routes during Mardi Gras if you put a ladder or sofa out too early

A lot of them have families with money. Yet for some reason it appeals.
I personally like to be comfortable, clean and know what I'm going to do when I'm there.
I guess the journey is the thrill for some

I think its 45 you exit off of in Houston to go to minute maid park. Under that area, it is nothing but tents. I don't ever remember seeing so many as I did a few weeks ago. It almost looked like its own little city..
The number of homeless people in Seattle surprised me. And they seem to be everywhere in Seattle... begging.

There’s a website dedicated to their lifestyle. Someone posted it here once and there was a discussion on it.
They pride themselves on theft and substance use.
