Once heard Paul Harvey tell a story of a poor boy in a Catholic school write a letter to President Roosevelt asking for some money for some sort of school project during the depression. As the story was told the President wrote back basically saying that with times being as tough as they were he was unable to help but wished him luck. Ends up that poor student was Fidel Castro.

Can't help but wonder if Fidel's political path would have gone differently had President Roosevelt responded differently.
