Very nice. Congrats!

Nice pics as well. I’ve got a few hours on the first pic posted.

Probably 8-10 yr commitment and some BS before you get to flying anything.

How do the F-35s look in person

Neighbor's kid is in flight school. He is mostly in an 18, but also flies the 35's. He said the HP is unbelievable on the 35's.

Yessir. He got 2 engineering degrees, then went to OCS. He joined the USMC because he felt they would be physically harder on him.

He finishes school in August and is hoping to go to S. Carolina. Good kid, and a damned fine American.

F35s were incredible, definitely stole the show. The slow speed "stall flying" maneuver is just amazing to see, it looks fake and in slow motion.

The Corsair and pilot were both so smooth, beautiful to watch.

That’s awesome, as of now they get some lead in, depending on what branch, in a gen 4 jet before getting an F-35.

The ones we had on "family" day cruises were unreal... Sonic booms from Toms.... Intruders hitting towed targets and 7's straffing and using up old zunis... never got old..

Nor did the occasional phantom, eagle, super etenard, tornado, BEAR, rafale and "escorted" migs on deployment. Oh and the lawndarts..... still vividly remember recce phantom getting splashed on the side of the ship

I shite you not, there were a few times when I was walking around yesterday that I said to myself, "God I'd give anything just to see an F14 right now, even if it was just a static display"

If you’re local head out to Veterans Park behind the Kenner city hall at the west end of W. Metairie Ave. There’s one there along with an A-4 Skyhawk.

and in typical LA fashion "ordinance" for Ordnance....

Going to a former Vietnam POW event this weekend that will include some incredible flybys, flyovers, low passes, etc., with basically no rules. It was scaled down last year due to Covid bs but should be back up to full speed this weekend.

Is that the one put on by the Cheetahs at Randolph?

I was there one year and a Lt wouldn’t let Ross Perot, the guest speaker, into the parking lot because he didn’t have his pass. It was funny when somebody stepped in and gave him some mentoring on the spot.

Had a great time. Great show. Interesting to see the Blue Angels struggle with some mechanical difficulties in multiple planes and have to break out a spare plane and then perform the show 1 plane short. As usual, It was easy to get into the show if you got there early but leaving was a disaster. Took 2 hours just to get off the damn westbank!

I learned a valuable lesson this year. NEVER park in the lot off Barrier road. We waited in line for the busses watching the blue angels perform and still were in line for an hour.

Other than that it was a great show as always and glad that it is back.
